Newb with a F4i front end swap question

Hey guys,
Just found this forum and its an amazing tool. I picked up an 04 F4i in the middle of the last season for a good deal and im re-doing it over the winter. Its currently getting its new fairings painted lamborghini reventon grey and getting the 03 tail swap. I have a question about front end swaps. The fork seals are leaking, and i've been reading alot about converting to the 05 600rr inverted forks to give a better feel to the front end for stoppies, etc. Basically I need a list of what to buy to make this work, as I cannot find a 100% answer anywhere. Also, can I still run full front fairings with this swap? Im not into the street fighter thing, just not my style. If theres already a DIY thread on this throw up the Newb flag and point me on my way.

Thanks!

i deserved that. I know how to search..i've been on many other forums for years. What do you guys suggest I do to build up my current forks? Im a bit heavier rider, 210lbs or so when Im slimmed up in the spring, and these forks do not like that weight.

any honda froks (600rr, 1000rr, 929, or 954), or you can get 929 triple trees (upper and lower) and any 50mm forks (636, R6, R1, 1000rr). i've got a whole 929 front end on my current f4i, and just put 1krr forks with 929 triple trees and 636 clip ons :apimp

Another thing is your gonna hafta trim your upper plastics the lower tripple tree hit the air ducts..
That was with useing a 954 Tripple i belive...
An if your gonna be fuckin with your Clip on postion Exp. "Flipped or foward"
More trimming is gonna be needed pretty much cut the hole top if your gonna be running db bars..

wierd how people think swapping a different front end is going to step up their game when they cant even roll 50 feet on a stocker. no offense. i've fell into that trap too, then realized.
what i did to mine was tweak the damping and preload, put steel lines, new ebc rotors, db bars, new stock pads, new tire. works pretty good, although i think one of my calipers has a stuck piston due to one pad wearing out faster than the other and vibration on that rotor only.

Re: Newb with a F4i front end swap question

bad f4i pogosticks are UN-STOPPIE-ABLE. But if u got oil in em, and u turn the preload and damper in, they roll nice. imo.

i have a complete 1000rr front end wheel, tire, tubes, upper triple, lower triple, brake lines, rotors, calipers and master needs seals $500.00 o.b.o seals are about 60 bucks plus install and i have 50mm wood craft clip ons for it for another $100.00 this will bolt up no problem

well, they r not totally un stoppie able .... you can put racetech springs for a heavier ridier and set them up for say a 350 pound rider to carry ur weight and the bikes weight and it wont really pogo itll be smooth, my friend just did it to his and a guy i met at YO FACE did the same to his STOCK f4i forks and was rolling pretty long :yeah

if you use a 929/954/1000RR etc. triple you can use any 50mm forks... only thing you have to look for is the lenth of the forks..

I am in the process of putting an 08 gsxr 750 front end on my f4i.

damn guys thanks for all the opinions. Im gonna look into building the stock forks. As for the tail swap, I just said 03 because it was the year of the bike I picked the parts up from.

Re: Newb with a F4i front end swap question

if you stay with the stock forks you wont have radial brakes and you will be stuck with that tiny rotor . putting money into stock forks is like wasting money. heavier oil when you do the seals is ok . once you can roll out over 150 feet try some other peoples bikes and make your own decisions

Re: Newb with a F4i front end swap question

stock forks with racetech .94 springs and fresh oil, I weigh 250lbs, I would never spend money on front end swap until you can roll over 400 or 500 feet.. thats my opinoin though, heres a video

Re: Newb with a F4i front end swap question

Would it be safe to assume that any 50mm top triple is swappable?

For ex) the hondas have that hump on the top triple
and the Yamahas and GSXR's are flat top triple.

For me it makes sense to use a flat one and drill through so I can still use my existing DB set up.

Also, axle width won't be an issue? They can't all be the same width can they?

Ex) 954 lower triple with R1 forks. Then the R1 axle would be fine to use?

not exactly the center hole in the top triple may not line up same goes for the wheel bearings and axle spacers ect.
