Re: Stand-ups at????

give it more gas when you clutch it so you can get it to balance faster, then once you get there you dont have to worry about running out of gear

Re: Stand-ups at????

f4stunna 10-13-2005 12:08 PM

Re: Stand-ups at????

kinda sorta yea. you shoudnt need to bounce it in 2nd. but to get 3nd up stock gears your probubly gonna need to bounce and clutch it up

Re: Stand-ups at????

I'm gonna go ahead and say learn first gear. It'll teach you throttle control, and exactly where BP is because it'll rev out quicker if you're not balanced. It's also slower and you have more engine brake to come down if you go past bp.

Re: Stand-ups at????

second is easiest to learn on the f4i if you can't find bp yet .... clutch it up around 40-45 in 2nd and it'll be right there ... cover the rear brake .... if you're not doing staggard I would recommend trying that

Correction, clutch the piss out of it. Otherwise it won't come up more than 4".

Re: Stand-ups at????

Yea, you're gonna need to clutch the hell out of it. When I had stock gearing I had to cruise around 45-50mph in second, then clutch it up at about 8-9K RPM's. Whatever you do, don't clutch it up low and try to pull it up. Did that the first time I rode it and if I didn't have brake control I'd have been over. The F4i has no power until about 8K RPMs, so if you pull it up low then hit the power band it'll jump on ya. So just remember, in second gear you want about 45-50 and clutch it up at about 8K RPMs.
