new r6 vs new gsxr
 

what does everyone think about the new r6 vs the new gsxr 600? value comparison? personally i think the r6 looks way better than a gsxr and was thinking of getting one next year. i'm going to use it the most on the street with some track days. cbr6rr's are too expensive for me right now so i was thinking the r6. any opinions are helpful

A few nights ago I was talking to a guy who had been racing almost as long as I have been living. You really cant go wrong with either..but since I own an 06 r6 Ill be biased. I have had the chance to ride both the 06 gixxer 600 and of course mine and they are both awesome machines for the track.

BTW, the racer had a honda cbr 600..a 05 I believe. He said he would trade for my R6 straight up.

i think the gixxer is way better looking. never really been a fan of yamaha except for the r1 back in the day.

I like stunting a lot..just not any good at it. Every now and then Ill practice clutching it up but I dont want to mess up my minty r6. Im thinking about buying a beater bike just for the fun of it. Dont plan on getting good, just to have some fun with.

Oh yah, get an R6 for the track..you wont be dissapointed

i have riden both and hate the gixers, i own the 05R6 but its a completely different bike that the 06 for sure. a buddy of mine has been riding and racing for over 20 years and will smoke anyone i know, he says the new R6 is by far the best track bike hes ever been on in his life, and he owns an 06 Gix1K, 06 Gix750, 06 R6, 04 Goldwing, 03 FZ1, 05 CRF450R, you get the idea. neither one is any good for stunting but for track R6 all the way.

P.S. the new R6 and the New CBR600RR are only about 200 dollars difference in Price, i hope your not comparing the 06 R6S to the 06 Gix 600, in that case for track youd want the Gix, S Model R6 doesn't have inverted forks anymore which you'll want for the track. Stuntin yeah R6S

hey check "my handbrake thread" i finished my clip-on's, and the handbrake... shit is killer. look at it, and ask me any questions you have on em.. i tried the clipons at all degrees.

maybe the way gixxers coming out of the factory they arent that good for stunting.. but can you tell me WHAT the bad thing is about gixxers that a honda doesn't have ?! what if i should reinforce the subframe on a 07 gsxr,change the oil thing so that it never runs without oil..what the hell could possible go wrong then..yeah if ya smack it full speed against the asphalt it's probably broken..every bike with a little bad luck...i stunt gixxers for 4 years now.. i don't do circles yet, but i do wheelies for miles on highways, slow 12's, endos, etc.. the only thing i didn't do are circles ! and guess what.. i only chrashed 1 time in my life..while doing a superfast donut, so it didn't hit the ground very hard.. so the only problem that should possible go wrong is that the bike is gonna fall apart while crashing it while doing 12's or other shit like circles... am i right ?! you experts tell me because me as a european guy don't know shit about stunting like you guys do ! :)

R6 is garbage for the street. You gotta rev the shit out of it to get any power. It rips at high r's. For all around use the gixxer is better by a lot. Once you start putting on aftermarket parts the gixxer can't be beat on the track and is even better on the street. Why do u think yamaha has to make two different model R6's. They just don't have one well rounded machine. For stunting purposes go with the R6's. for anything else you want the gixxer.

the R6 is perfect for the street, and contrary to believe... you really dont need to rev it like that, unless you are drag racing from the light.... in that case launch @ 10k and you are off like a rocket!

the reason yamaha made 2 model R6's, is because the R6v is such a serious machine, they knew not everyone would enjoy it on normal criuses. the suspension is harsh, the seat is hard... the thing sit high as hell, and the rake is tremendous! so they gave the pussies something to buy, instead of whine about why is this bike such a savage. each R6 is a well rounded machine, and what is also funny.... the 05 R6 will smash on a 06 gix on the track anyday:LOL


oh, and lets not talk about a modded 1....:LOL
just about every mod under the sun, and as of last week.... cams and cam gears.... dyno comming this week, and i am looking for 120+ whp.

Just a question. Do you read any reviews in any of the street bike magazines cuz maybe all those people are idiots too. Have you ridden the gixxer cuz iv'e ridden the r6 and really don't like it on the street. By the way my gixxer smoked the r6 in the 1/4 mile when they were both stock. besides who wants to buy a bike from a company that has to lie about there redline. 17,500 come on. I know all the manufacturers push it a little but yamaha's is off by over 12%. Like I said, GARBAGE.

if you`ve ridden both then its all gonna be whatever one your more comfortable on?? if its about which bike is faster? well then why are we evern talking about 600`s???

i have a 600 cause i like it for lots.. but on the hwy i can bring it up in 5th or 6th!!! all depends what your getting the bike for?? good luck!

dip shit, i have read every article on the bike.... i know what was said about it for street riding.

that is just a general assumtion on how a ride would want a bike to preform on the street, but actually riding it... and not caring about the stiff suspension, the high revving, and the whorable rake and body positioning.. the bike is a monster. ride it on the street like you ride it on the track.... why wouldnt it rank high. that is the difference in the tests, they rode it on the street how they would normally ride it, and it sucks for that pussy footin around... but if you ride like most of the stuntbike world..... um, i doubt you would have a problem with it.

and the 1/4 mile, :LOL you arent on liter bikes... who cares if you beat one. you wouldnt beat me stock to stock, you just happened to be better than that 1 rider that day, so....:shruggs

as far as the redline... they set it back to 16.8 on the new ones, it still owns ama.... who cares about the redline... i dont even look at it.:2cents

My friend has an 06 gixxer 600 and I have the 06 r6 and its not just me who is saying that the r6 is better. ALL my friends that have been on both bikes say they like the r6 better.

Either way you bite it the rider makes the bike fast.

I want too though.... really bad, lol.

But gixxers in general always felt way too bloated and big while an R6 felt the way a sport bike shoudl, riding a 2x4.
