Classified sections suggestion

With the influx of people coming on here to just sell stuff or possibly scam someone out of money, I think that a new classified system should be implemented.

A lot of other boards I belong to require a minimum amount of time and posts before you're allowed to sell, buy, post or sometimes even view the classified section.

I think this would deter people from just signing up just to sell stuff and deter scammers as well.

I agree! There should be a 50 or 100 post minimum for sure!

Re: Classified sections suggestion

^^its not hard to get 100 posts. should have to give like name and addy to the adminstrators so they can track the person if they scam someone or use paypay for buying and selling..

Re: Classified sections suggestion

^ While I agree that its not hard to reach 100 post count, it would still deter a lot of people from coming on here to just sell shit.

Even when visiting other forums, guest users usually are not able to view pictures in the thread, and I know I get annoyed and don't even bother to create an account to view pictures. can you imagine 100 posts just to sell stuff? Also, the posts should present substance and not just mumbo jumbo to build up the post count.

What I'm suggesting is a preemptive step before anyone gets scammed. Why wait to tell an administrator after you have already lost your money? There's not 100% guarantee that you'll get your money back even with the help of the admins. Also, what right does the admin have to collect peoples full names and address? The admins should not be responsible for any transactions that take place on stuntlife... I also think it would just create a lot more work for admins that isn't necessary. can you imagine getting addresses from 78,000+ members... not very efficient imo

Im against it.

If youre stupid enough to paypal a ton of money to some guy in another state with only 2 posts, then you deserve to lose your money. Its buyer beware, and it works fine for smart buyers.
I like having the option to buy from someone I dont know, if youre local to teh seller, that can work out great.

Also, the biggest scammers on here have well over 100 posts - Bishop, Big R, Powers stuntworks, etc

I agree as far as the having common sense about paypal goes.

Here are the rules on one of the forums im on the staff of.. Nags and the guys can decide for themselves, because its a TON of work to try to enforce for the staff usually. Personally its convenient for both buyer and seller of stuff though. We've only got 8412 registered members and its nearly impossible for the staff to keep up with the rules themselve, i could only imagine here...
--Rules for Parts for Sale/Wanted threads--
* You must have a minimum of 10 posts to make a Classified ad. Take note this does not mean 10 worthless, spam posts.
*A price and contact information (email and/or phone number) MUST be clearly posted for the item you are selling. An OBO is fine; if you are up for trades, list that with an asking price.
* No "Gauging Interest?" threads. Either you want to sell the item or you don't. Save that for the Lounge.
* If you are not interested in buying, don't clutter up the thread with useless posts. If you want to TTT it then that's fine.
* Links to Ebay auctions are allowed, as long as it is clearly stated in the topic title that it is an Ebay auction, and you list your item for sale, asking price, and contact information along with a link to the auction in your post.
**** Any bidding on the item shall be restricted to the Ebay auction.
* You must own the item for sale, no posting ads for friends.

--Items that are not acceptable to be offered for sale--

* Drugs / Narcotics / Alcohol or other intoxicant of any type
* Firearms of any type (weapons of any other type are subject to Moderator / Administrator discretion)
* Pornographic material of any type
* Illegally obtained ("Pirated") software, entertainment, or gaming media (CDs, DVDs, etc.)
* Any other type of illegal item or material

Failure to follow the above rules may result in an immediate locked thread. These rules are for your benefit and online safety.
If you have any questions, feel free to PM lightweight or one of the site Administrators. Thank you!

thats true. there should also be a feedback board on your profile (like e-bay) lettting others see what you have bought and sold on this site and if you have good feedback it will make it easy to see that the guy is a trustworthey seller and or buyer.:2cents

Thats a dumb rule (green big section). Everyone is looking for a great deal. espeacially 90% of people on stuntlife... If they wanted to pay full price go to the dealership. I like it if someone throws up a potentiall good deal. :2cents

I like all the brain storming. But IMO there are tons of feedback threads in the feedback section. It's your duty as a buyer/seller to post up your doings and how they went. Helps everyone else and helps you. so if you want to do buisness someone just search their name in the search box. If they have no feed back well then your on your own make a educated decision.:2cents

Re: Classified sections suggestion

The main reason we dont let people post things for friends is because its always fucked up.. When the OP doesn't own it the product description is usually screwed up, or pricing, availability, contact info ( we allow it sometimes if the ACTUAL owners contact info is posted ) . Then when something goes wrong the actual owner you are purchasing from 'cant be found' and the person that posted it always says " i was just posting it for a friend... its not my fault" etc etc.
