longest rides

I'm watchin some biker show on Sturgis. Says alot of people ride to the event cross country. Just wondering how far any of you guys have gone on the bike? I don't like putting miles on the bike but I'd love to take a trip somewhere far. When I bought my 2002 I remember this guys R1 for sale had 29,000 on it and it was a 2002 , damn!

So where have you traveled to?

ChrisF4i, Foxracinggirl, and I had a nice ride to Pennsylvania last year for the Pocono XSBA. With traffic it took us about 9 hours to get there and somewhere around 10 or 11 to get back. pouring rain, freezing cold, and it even hailed.

chauncey and i rode our bikes to starboyz stuntfest last year...left at 6pm and got there around 4am....straight through the sticks...and only 100 miles per fillup too!!!

not fun.

I was thinkin' about this the other day. Do you think it really hailed? Or do you think it was a hallucination caused by the 10-hour overnight interstate ride?? Does it really hail in Massachusetts in August?? I am befuddled by this.

hessogood 02-10-2003 09:17 AM

was it august? I thought it was september 23rd. It was either hail or it was a cold sandstorm with clear sand. It was my luck following us, had you gone without me it would have been 85 and sunny all through the night.

ChrisNoF4i 02-10-2003 09:26 AM

It was August 23, 2002.
And I would do another ride like that in a New York minute.
A blast up to Canada or somethin', eh? :cheers

On 2 conditions: 1. Don't leave during rush hour on a Friday evening.
2. Don't head home at 11 o'clock at night after spending a full day roasting in the sun at the track.

As far as putting miles on the bike, Sick02 - I bought my bike to ride it, not to look at it. 2 seasons - 20,000 miles later. No regrets. :hello

Sick02r6.................if your worried about the miles because of resale value........Hint hint....unplug the speedo. Problem solved. Now get out there and ride.

Chris I'm with you I bought it to ride it. I was out on saturday. Rode to plymouth looking for the RM fella's.

I'm down for a long ride this season. Pack up a tent and head to VT or Canada. Buffallo area and Six Flags is a great ride.

Lets do this!!!

Rode to Upstate NY once 10 hours. Thank god for the Corbin seat.

I'm totally down for a long ride this season!
I unplugged my speedo on my other bike but was unsure how to do it on this one. I didn't even look into doing it yet so maybe it's cake to do. I love riding that's why I bought my bike too but I just hate seeing the numbers go up. Just broke 4,000 and it's killing me. For re-sale purposes I want to have nothing on it for miles. I'll be getting something bigger than a 600 soon hopefully.
Let's get something planned!!! I'll go pretty much wherever!!!

Shel, what did you have in mind before?

Hookin up with slinky doesn't sound bad either! ps-thanks for the invite!

On my 900 it's 1 little plug right below my gas tank. It's anchored to the inside of my frame. I didn't even need to take anything off. hehehe. I probably saved myself about 7,000 miles this summer. :laughing

Lata,
Bri

PS. SUMMA 2003!! off the hizzook my nizzook .... huh?:twofinger
