They allow guns in Italy??? I figured Italy would be lumped in with the rest of the new socialist european union......you know, high taxes, no guns, no rights, no voice,.....

Re: What's the best US firearms forum?
LOL thanks for the feedback guys. Really appreciate it.
Let's start by saying that firearm ownership in Italy isn't that bad.
Laws would be pretty good ( medical checks, underground checks ),
they're even better than in some US States: as an example,
US doesn't allow for ANY convicted felon to hold and detain firearms,
while the Italian law only forbids those convicted for violent crimes (assault, rape, the lot ) and will not bother if you've been convicted for, say, reckless driving ( gotta love it ) or not paying your taxes.
Only issue is that law isn't applied equally: Polizia di Stato ( the actual Police ) is quite cool with that, while the old Carabinieri ( the ancient Military Police, still in charge of the loneliest and most hidden villages of the peninsula, and present along with the Polizia Di Stato ) are rather nervous when dealing with gun laws.
I'd say Italian laws are overall better than those in the State of New York ( as for my research ) or Illinois.
And no, we don't really feel the need of having CCWs:
Crime is rather mild-hearted here,
and the good ol' wood plank will suit much better for dealing with some punk.
All said and done, i've been taking a look both at AR15.com and TheFiringLine. While TFL is rather cool and pleasant,
i'd say ARFCOM to be quite a bit.. don't know,
i hate going political and being called "surrender monkey",
but that's what just happened as i stepped in ARFCOM's chatroom.
damn trolls.
Anyway, that's what i'm going to get myself, as my very first own firearm:
a Remington 1858, .44 black powder C&B. Charcoal Blue & Hard Casing,
it'll be an 8 incher.
Gotta love it.
I still have a soft spot for the Colt .36 Navy,
but i hate the idea of having to deal with that wedge thing.

Those are pretty nice choices......good collector items if you get a true "era" piece. Replicas would be fun as well and you dont have to worry about dropping the Value on them.
I bought an FN FiveSeven pistol, Glock 17 pistol, and GSG-5 rifle yesterday along with 550 rounds of 5.7x28 for the FN pistol. Google em and check em out....TONS of fun, LOTS of controversy over the FiveSeven pistol since reloaded FMJ ammo can cut thru some of the best bullet proof vests and they come with 3-20 round mags that can be extended to 30 rounds by buying $12 extensions for the mags. I have 2 of the extensions on order and am keeping one mag the regular 20 round length.
Sounds like Italy would be about the only place in Europe I would be interested in visiting!

I carry one of my 4 handguns with me all the time, normally concealed, but when outdoors I sometimes open carry.
I WOULDN'T mind being able to walk from store to store with my AK or AR strapped over my shoulder tho! haha
