Brake Discs – wavy Vs standard
I heard a rumour that wavey discs are supposed to cool better but have no idea if this came from jackanory – any clues?
My rear has started to crack - I assume from over heating, oops

Yes, honda rear rotors have been known to form hairline cracks from heat once they are well used. Some guys have found that aftermarket wave rotors work just as good and last longer without the same cracking issues... while others like the feel of the stocker so they just replace them when necessary... a nice fresh stocker should last you quite a while unless you are riding/dragging the brake a lot, especially at higher (see streets) speeds... hope that helps

Wave rotors are a good upgrade but the feel will be a little off. They are usually quite expensive, but just a rear is not too bad.

Im not 100% but dont think they will be any better as they only cool effectively at higher speeds, even then im not sure if they make a huge ammount of difference, they jus seem to be a fashion thing as i havnt seen a race bike or anything similar with them on.
Hope this helps dude

The stock rotors are stamped-cut. the wave rotors are lazer cut which keeps them from cracking. you get more even wear on the surface area and they don't groove as easily. you can get them from Hohey for a decent price and the shipping is cheap and fast. They do cool off faster but they still get just as hot as the stock rotors.

check out www.starrotors.com they have good prices on sum sickass rotors
in my experiance and talking with quite a bit of people about wave rotors heres what i have gathered. there are three different types of rotors, stock, semi wave (which is really for looks, will help a little on cooling) and wave rotors. as far as rear rotors go for stunt riding stock or semi-wave is the way to go. full wave rotors are made to dicipate the heat away from the rotor and they do, they put all the heat in your pads and caliper in return roaching pads and boiling break fluid.
