Mikie,

what i do is keep the big disk on the supermoto wheels, and the small disk on the dirt wheels.

I use the same brake setup on both, but have a different spacer to move the caliper out to suit each disk. Takes another 2 mins when changing wheels.

The difference with the big disk is huge, about twice the stopping power.

The bracket i have, replaces the back half of the caliper, which you just slide out, and replace with the one that suits the disk you're using.

This was the setup on my DR-Z400. I use the same setup on the WR now. (excuse the dirt)

Re: Motard Question...

Gotcha! Right now I'm using it exclusively for dirt. Having a blast, but two sets of wheels would be nice. I just need to find some cheap stock hubs for the motard setup. I don't want to dish out the bones for Talons if possible.

Re: Motard Question...

These big bore 400+ db's have so much engine braking. Creepin highchairs and spreaders is pretty easy to do. I think thats kind of a downside to switching over to a big bike. Unless you gear that big bike down (which IMO is overrated big time) I dont think they will help much. Just wanted to throw that out there to the original question.

Re: Motard Question...

If you've got a '99 onwards WR, with the 20mm front spindle, then DR-Z400 wheels will fit. You just have to use the WR rear disk, and a suzuki sprocket.

Re: Motard Question...

any race bike ktm 450, crf 450s will take maintenance, just some more than others, the only thing i like about ktms 450s is they use to be sold with a set of dirt wheels and the motard wheels so you could switch back and fourth, the good thing about the honda 450s is there is a ton of aftermarket support and i they can get quite a bit of hp out of those things, a guy on supermotojunkie says his has got about 60hp but just get what you can, hopefully i will have some rims after christmas for my Ktm...... maybe not though

It's a fragile race bike. With a 10 hour engine rebuild schedule.

Not exactly ideal for stunting.
