but im lost because i know nothing about anyting

if you dont want to convert a bike over to it, just buy one already motarded, ktm makes them, husqavarna, suzuki, aprilla, TM.

I built one from an xr400 and works well, due to the fact i still use it as a dirt bike as well.

depends what you want to do i guess, if you where gonna ride street i would probobly buy like a 650 or ktm 625, or the drz, already streetlegal, 450s need to be made streetlegal, but if you wanted to race them then most people race the 450s.

DAZ how much did it run you to get it all setup? I was thinking XR400 too with upgraded forks. I hear the CRF bikes arent as reliable and need to be rebuilt often.

Hi Mikie, I bought the wheels second hand of cbr250rr 400 bucks & about 150 for spacers and machining, the small issue i had was the front disc because i wanted to keep the same size disc because of dual purpose thing i had to get a disc made to suit. if your are going to motard only disc is not much of a problem, you just need to make the caliper bracket to suit bigger disc, which will work much better than mine (which is fine for the streets). :YEAH

Sweet, I know the XR's are bullet proof too. I did harescrambles before stunting, those *****es never needed anything but gas!

I heard somone got 200.000 km out of an xr400 with nothing more than cleaning the filter and changing the oil often.

I'd believe it, I got an '82 XL250R in my garage.. still runs great. Just gotta clean out the old gas every couple years and she starts right up!

Your XR is dope. Post more pics. I'm going to supermoto an XR 650r and convert it for the street.(way lighter than XL 650) Too bad we don't have CBR 250's in the states. You limeys get all the cool stuff.
