steering stand-ups

my stand-up's are decent as long as I get a good launch, on a good road, with no wind. Lol but if conditions arn't perfect I always find myself drifting to the right shoulder..... Any suggestions/tips?

I'm probably taking too long to get to bp but sometimes even when I hit it I can't beat the drift..... I finally was able to get someone to get some quick footage to clear up any uncertainties and threw together this lil vid. Feel free to comment and rate.

Re: steering stand-ups

well sir i would suggest learning staggard...pretty much same body position but your shift side foot is on the passenger peg...it feels wierd as hell for the first while but trust me it makes corrections a lot easier cuz it will bring the bike a little futher back and puts you body in a better position for leaning one way or the other to correct your drifting problem..

Re: steering stand-ups

yes now looking at the vid again you are correct

but the leg that should be straight is the one on the back peg more then the one on the front...it will push you off of the tank more that way and make leaning easier...thats why i didnt notice it till i looked closer..with that back leg bent like that it looks like you were up on the front pegs...so straighten out you legs so your off the tank more and after that its all about leaning lol theres times where im leaning almost all the way off the bike cuz of wind once and awhile...

Re: steering stand-ups

What swampy said is dead on! Which ever leg is straight is the side you will drift to being that is where the most weight will be. once you get comfortable and relaxed, both legs will be slightly bent and you will decide which way you want to go by transfering weight via "straightening a leg" as well as being able to move around from trick to trick....

Re: steering stand-ups

^^^ wtf!?! anyways fellas that is a great tip but I've also noticed that my upper body position isn't correct.... In that vid I'm more leaning into the bike and not as relaxed as I could be, which I've been working on and helps. That vid is the first time I've ever had someone get footage of me and I've been critiquing the hell out of it!
