You take the dust seal and nut out of the right side of the 04 swingarm and put it in the other one and use the 04 swingarm bolt

by swingarm bolt you mean the bolt that runs thru the frame right?
i cant tell a diffrence in the 04' vs 08' rear bolt holding the wheel on...but i was just concerned about the stories i hear from the chain not wanting to stay on due to width diffrence an all. any suprises i need to know about with this swap up?

False.....That would be the axle.....The axle bolt would be the bolt that connects the swingarm to the frame. Use the 04 swingarm bolt, and right side swingarm spacer. Use the newer wheel spacers, knuckle and shock. The Caliper shouldn't matter.
