SCS - Josh @ Star Custom Seats = Bad Business
Just wanted to toss this out there, might want to think twice before you shell out money to this guy because he does not stand behind his materials.
I got my 2 seats covered by Josh @ SCS about 2 Months ago for close to $250. After about 4 weeks the Material on the left side started falling apart. Im 5"5 130 so my weight did not play a factor in the damage here. I hit Josh up on myspace he said by the looks the material started falling apart and he wanted some better pictures. I sent him some detailed pics and he stated the obious that the material it self is the issue not his "craftmanship" so basicly he used some grabage *** material and since his seams are good he cant help me out. What is his solution to the problem? He proceeds to tell me to color my $250 seats in with a ******* sharpie marker. Its only the material used on the left hand side, the right side is perfect. The faded look is dirt its not material just to be fair and honest.
Its not like I wanted a refund, a recover for the cost of the material would have been acceptable. I only used this guy after seeing Parrish's seats in person and they looked gangster, his have alot more use and still look perfect. I was not so lucky..

first off thats bullshit he doesnt help out one way or another. thats a douche move.
but in a little defense how many materials are designed in mind of someone jumping all over them? not many. and even though your 130lbs on a scale, when you jump up and down a foot you weigh almost twice as much on impact. so your now 260lbs (give or take) body would have an effect on material.
just saying. not trying to be negative and i do hope some good will comes to your seats.
god bless

Thanks for posting this! I just called a couple days ago and he wanted like almost $200 and I was going to get them done by spring. but Idk now.. They look sick but if they don't hold up there's no point in having them done!
He should stand behind his product better for what he charges! Bad business for sure!!

I have the same materials that Sean Parrish has on his bike, he moves all over his bike from peg to peg back to seat stander and jumping all over hell. The material quality in general is not the question I have seen others take alot more abuse, some how I got a janky piece and he wont work with me to fix it.
sorry didnt see the post how he deleted you from myspace yeah **** him. even if it was the material its that **** fault. just give him a beaten when you see him. violence usually solves stuff. atleast makes it more interesting

I see your point that for $250 the fabric shouldn't have fallen apart like that, but it looks like you wore that corner of the seat down pretty good. That whole corner is scuffed up.
I'm with you 100% on getting a recover for cost of materials, but I can see where Josh is coming from also. Nothing he did caused your seats to rip like that. Your gonna say the fabric sucks, he's gonna say your shoes are sand paper. I agree with you though, cuz parrish's seats do look of better quality.
Hard spot to be in, Id think if he wanted to keep a good rep that maybe he would suck it up and do the recover but I can't blame him for not doing it.

Re: SCS - Josh @ Star Custom Seats = Bad Business
**** that dude, even if his seams didn't fail,he is responsible for the material he chooses to use,a "real" business owner would do anything to keep his customers happy, not do anything to find an excuse to say "it's not my fault" it looks to me like his double seam stitch stretched the material to tight and almost to it's limit inbetween the 2 seams and it only took a lil pressure to make it fail,so yes I think it is cause his seams that it's falling apart.and to the guy who said there aren't many materials that will hold up to the punishment,I agree with you but there was a thread posted by this "STAR seats guy" that said his seats are made for stunting and will hold up to the abuse.so he knows what type of riding we do.and claimed to have the product that will hold up.Thanks for the warning,I'll be sure to make sure nobody I know uses this guy...
