2003 636 Forks...

Hey A few people have been telling me to switch out my 03 forks because they can snap...So what should I buy? Would 2004 forks work or are they garbage as well?

Let me know what you think the best setup would be and if you know anyone selling Forks. PM me.. Thanks in advance, Nate

(Current setup)

But the caliper mounts are different on the 05/06 forks, I'm pretty sure you have to get the larger 05/06 rotors to accommodate (they fit on the 03/04 wheel just fine).

Re: 2003 636 Forks...

since your running dirt bars....get the 07 08 6r forks....the 05 06 adjusters on top stick up about an inch and a half higher and you will have to either raise ur bars up or raise ur front end.....07 08s adjusters on top are close to flush with the top of the fork....
All u need is rotors, forks, and calipers, the reason for it is becuase the rotors are bigger and the housing on the forks for the calipers have a longer extension built in for the bigger rotors....it all bolts up together.

Talking Re: 2003 636 Forks...

i wouldnt worry about it, just keep an eye on your stock forks and make sure the seals are good and they dont have any play or slop in them
unless you have a bunch of useless money laying around you just have to spend on forks, wheel, and rotors to change your setup

most of the people i know that got the 07 08's didnt like them but i dont know much about them ..

i do know for a fact that the 05 06 fork tubes are thicker and stronger than the 03 04

Ive ran both....had 06...got a deal on the 07, imrunnin them and love em. The only real prob was when i was runnin dirt bars with the 06s i had to space my dbs up another inch and a half from the adjusters on the top of the forks. Felt like i was ridin with ape hangers...the internals are a lil dif from 05 06 to 07 08..... imo the 07 08 are 100% better

Id rather spend the 350 bucks now instead of paying for surgury and being away from riding for a while....

Re: 2003 636 Forks...

05-08 I have 07's and feel great to me and the top adjusters are flush so they would work with your db bars better then the 05-06. You will need a 05-08 front fender as well. You can use the 03-04 calipers just have to put a 10mm spacers between the calipers and the forks.

Re: 2003 636 Forks...

putting spacers between the calipers and fork is only done if you are using the 03 04 forks with 05 06 rotors because the 05 06 rotors are bigger then the 03 04 but if you have 05 06 forks and 05 06 rotors you dont need to add spacers and the 03 04 calipers will work fine with the 05 06 forks and rotors

Would 05-06 Rotors/Calipers fit on the 07-08 forks?
