F4i front end conversion

Hey guys,

I just been in an accident and have f@rk3d up my forks. I've ben talking to a friend and he has been telling me to go with an R1 front end. Just want your opinion on the difficulty of the installation, if there is a better alternative, if it's compatible etc...

I not really good with this stuff so any input on front end conversion would be mad.

Re: F4i front end conversion

its easy if you have full front end
1.wheel
2.clamps
3.forks
4.rotors (r1 have bigger then f4-i)
dude if you can get complet r1 front end instal it.
but you can also use one from r6

I dont think the RC51 front end would be that bad if you used the 929/954 tripples would it with everything else from the rc51?
Also to answer the question about the R1 front end on a f4i yeah you can put it on if you use the top and bottom 929/954 triple clamps, and the forks, brakes, wheel, rotor and axle off of a r1. Heres a pic of a R1 front end on a f4i.

nooooo shhh****Ttt, ive never seen that. But then again now to think about it i have seen a srad n750 front end on a 01 f4i. i didnt think about using the honda triples and that have the same tube diameter as a r1 though

yup thats what alot of people do with different front ends. 929-954 triples are a direct swap and they are for 50mm forks.
98-06 R1 50mm
05-06 R6/S 50mm
97-01 TLR1000R/S 50mm
01-08 GSXR 1000 50mm
96-07 GSXR 750 50mm
04-07 GSXR 600 50mm
04-07 ZX10R 50mm
95-02 ZX7R 50mm
03-06 ZX6R/636 50mm
00-06 RC51 50mm
04-07 CBR 1000RR 50mm
00-03 CBR 929/954RR 50mm
Ducati 620SS/620S/1000SS/800SS/900SS/750SS 50mm

All of those are 50mm front ends. The ones I know have been used with the 929/954 triples on a f4i have been the R1,gixxer750&gixxer1k,cbr600RR,rc51,1000rr and of course 929/954. Im pretty sure would work. The only thing Im not sure about is if any of the different front ends are wider with the triples from the original front and and would have problems if the 929/954 were wider. But hope that info helped with your search for a new front end.

Re: F4i front end conversion

ya, all you need are triples that fit forks.

rc51 front end is actually a direct bolt on as is all honda front ends with other honda bikes. they are smart like that.

so it looks like you "could" put an r1 front end on there, but why? yamaha parts are more expensive and their forks aren't exactly the best suspension in the world. Honda makes the best suspension (and chassis) hands down.

nice list

Now go measure the lower triple on all them forks.... Just because they all take a 50mm clip-on don't mean they all will just slide in a set of 929/54 triples

Re: F4i front end conversion

you can use r1 and gsxr tripples with a little work .

https://www.stuntlife.com/forums/2-s...-bearings.html

and 96-99 gsxr 750 forks slide into 954 tripples perfect no modding at all.

I know that the zx6r 03-06 636 will fit the top triple off a 929/954 but they are a smaller diameter then the lower a few people in Stl tried it and the had to use some shims. They did like it.

Re: F4i front end conversion

why do you have like 3 inches of the fork tube sticking out about the clip ons? are the r1 forks that much longer? cool mod, and Im sure you can find old r1 wheels way easier then dam 954 rims!

Re: F4i front end conversion

Just finished my 929 swap.

I've seen quite different setups on here but I'm happy with mine (HHD top clamp with db handlebars). Everything clears up in front except the headlight but anyways, all the brackets were broken so I took it off and will be running some sort of block off plate with aliexpress 13$ projector times 2

Got lucky finding the parts for the swap and the only bitch is the steering stem bearings when doing the work but don't use too much force, it is quite easy when you figure it out.
