anyone here have any experience with insurance claims?

i got into an accident on friday. i was cut off by a car, but i had the right of way so he was at fault. my bike is a little jacked up. i need 2 new front fork tubes, not sure about the triple clamp and the left fairing is badly damaged not to mention a few other little odds and ends. i havent even gotten the police report yet which i will be getting on thursday or friday. since i dont have full coverage on my bike, i have to wait until the other guys insurance pays my claim. im just wondering about how long does it usually take for insurance companies to fix it. i dont want to miss the whole summer of riding so i am contemplating putting the money out of my own pocket and waiting for reimbursement, but not telling his insurance company that. im going to wait until i have the police report and contacting the insurance company before making any rash moves, but im not into waiting all summer to get my ride fixed if theyre going to jerk me around which i expect. just wondering about anyone elses experiences.

Dude: the same thing happened to me LAST SUMMER & I just got my bike back last week! All I have to tell you is be carefull of what you say to the insurance company. There just out to make $$$ and if they have to "screw" you to do so they will. Remember YOUR NOT AT FAULT! Be forcefull with them. If they offer you a settlement you dont like tell them to "pound sault" they WILL come to an agreement w/ you because they HAVE TO SETTLE W/ YOU. Be tough and dont let them walk on ya bro

I got rearended in my 87 ford escort like 5 years ago and the broad's insurance co cut me a check for 4 times what the car was worth without me ever having to even call them, it ruled. Escort = $285 according to my ins co. They paid me = $1295 and DIDN'T total the bitch, it totally ruled.

Just goes to show that you never know what's going to happen!

i had some dumb bitch run into me, she knew it was her fault, so after i called her company, i took the car to their claims center and they inspected it, mailed a check within a week for damages. that was with state farm, so you may have more problems if its some rinky dink company or if she disputes it
