Yamaha XT660X key problem!

Yamaha XT660X key problem!
Hi,
I purchased a second hand Yamaha XT660X last week and it was delivered yesterday. Its in really good condition but .... The key goes in to the ingnition block fine but dosent want to turn to the "on" position. Im sure the steering lock is off. Its the first new-ish bike ive ever had so im not sure if there's a security device or something that im not aware of that could be thwarting my attempts to actually turn the key in the block. Thank you.
