You know what we need?
A program to automatically resize pics to fit within the size limits.. nothing more frustrating than replying to a thread and attaching a pic only to find out its too big

find your pic, right click, open with...paint, once you have it open in paint put your cursor to the lower right hand corner of the image and it will tell you how many pixels it is at the bottom of the screen. At the top click Image, Stretch/Skew, and then keep adjusting it by 50 or 80 or whatever percent until you get it down to, or smaller than, 150x150 pixels, File, save as...JPEG, upload

ahh jeez... you don't even need photoshop, all you need is Paint and it's been on every windows operating system since the begining of time!

true, but the 'save for web' feature in photoshop is kinda nice when you have a site that says 'your upload can only be so many kb.
that's missing the whole point of what he's saying though.
he wants it to be automatic, so you don't have to **** with any of that stuff.
i'd use it.

most people don't have photoshop though... and the pixel limitation is what get's you 99 times out of 100. File size really only comes in to play when you're using animated .gif's.
I can see something like what nags is talking about being useful for uploading avatars... and pics too, I guess, but hosting your pics is FAR superior to attaching. If you host you only have to upload it once, and then you just copy/paste the link whenever/where ever. If you attach, you have to upload it EVERY time you want to post the pic. Not to mention how much easier it is to look at hosted pics in a thread than it is to click thumbnails and close windows everytime...
Attaching = power wheelie
Hosting = rev limiter coaster
