Wheelie crash injures three children

Taken from CNN
http://www.cnn.com/2004/US/Northeast....ap/index.html

NEW HAVEN, Connecticut (AP) -- A motorcycle doing a wheelie in a parade lost control and crashed into the crowd Sunday, seriously injuring three children.

Two 11-year-old girls and a 7-year-old boy were in critical but stable condition at a local hospital, according to broadcast reports.

Witnesses said the motorcyclist was doing a stunt with the front tire off the ground when he lost control and the motorcycle flew into the crowd, landing on the children.

Police apprehended the motorcyclist and were investigating. No charges had been filed Sunday evening.

The parade celebrated local residents who helped elderly people fix up their properties and cleaned up their neighborhoods during the city's 42nd annual Freddie Fixer Day on May 8.

Good thing, the stunt 'sport' wasn't going anywhere anyways. This could have been bad publicity.

Well, I must have been lucky since the "stunter" on Long Island only hit my car rather than me.

he probably wasn't a stunter.... just a wannabe that hangs around a team and wants to learn how to wheelie too.

Nah, I got a check from my insurance company to get it fixed. The whole thing was retarded and shouldn't have even happened. Two lane road, full of traffic (stopped, mind you), and said moron decides to do a half-*** wheelie. Loses control and crashes, and the bike slides right into my car since I had no exit and it happened so fast.

Now what if I had rode the TL down instead of my car, or what if I was 6 feet ahead of where I was? He could've taken someone on a bike out and caused serious injury, not to mention bike damage. Sad part is that the goddamn track entrance was all of 100 feet in front of us, so he could've gone in there like everyone else that's not actually performing.

If you're gonna stunt like that in traffic (and I'm not saying you should), at least know what the f*ck you're doing.

Edit: Now that I think about it, didn't Marcel crash from a wheelie during the Halloween run last year?

I may have to work on Saturday, but if I get my work done, then I'm clear. Last weekend you were busy, and I wasn't in the mood to make the trek all the way up there. I'll ring you later on this week like Friday or so and let you know.

I will be at the house all weekend long with a bunch of people. I am putting a new roof on the detached building.

That sucked. I lost control of that power wheelie - my bike went right into the croud. I was just happy that I helped old people fix thier houses up so i was doing a neato wheelie
