'06 Mixture Screw

I found out recently that the mixture screw on my stock carb needs a special tool to change the setting. I thought about going to a stock crf 70 carb instead but i was curious to see if there are other 50 years where the mixture came with a normal screw that anyone can change, and if so, if i could buy that screw and just throw it in where mine is now.

Re: '06 Mixture Screw

is the needle on your carb adjustable too? those are the real probs with my carb....if i can get the needle and the adjuster screw from an 04 from bikebandit i won't bother w/ a new carb. it's just pissing me off not being able to dial my mixture right.

Re: '06 Mixture Screw

If you look at the mixture screw in the pic you can see it's recessed on the '06 and instead of a standard screw head it needs a special tool. the head of the screw is in a "D" shape. That coupled with the fact that the needle only has one notch in it suggests to me that for a little while Honda didn't like people screwin w/ the fifty's mixture. and yes, that is the right screw for it b/c i thought the first one i had was broke...chewed it up gettin it out and then bought a new one....same thing.

Re: '06 Mixture Screw

thats wack that they arn't adjustable. no needle and no air screw, thats like 90% of dialing the carb in with those 2 adjustments.

Re: '06 Mixture Screw

yeah, i'm having enuff trouble learning to stunt this thing as it is...let alone having to do it w/ a half adjusted carb. kinda hard to keep a whoolie rollin with a fouled up mixture. that stock 70 carb is lookin better all the time.....And the funniest part of the whole thing...I've seen this same thread up on a couple diff forums about the 06 they can;'t be adjusted but when i call honda corporate and ask them which years i can replace those parts with they say we never made the fifty non-adjustable like that, it's got to be aftermarket. RIGHT!

Re: '06 Mixture Screw

You can adjust that screw with out a special tool my ruckus has that mixture screw. Take a cheap plastic pen and gut it, take a lighter heat up the smaller end of the pen press it on the D shaped screw let it cool and there you go you now made the tool

Re: '06 Mixture Screw

Nevermind, just gonna buy 20mm carb and intake kit from 50stunt. Special thanks to Ryan for the prompt and to the point email he sent to answer a few questions I had. By just changing the whole carb I'll be saving money because it comes w/ the air filter and everything....and it helps a fellow rider out who cares about his people. Thanks to everyone who helped w/ this situation.

Re: '06 Mixture Screw

i ran my stock motor all last year with the 20mm carb and intake kit from www.50stunt.com and it was a great performance upgrade! i would also get the tb cdi he sells at the same time. i did, and with it being such a bigger carb than stock the cdi helped it rev faster and higher.
