plating my 50 in IL

after a few years after I sold my last 50 I just bought a new one. Its an 04 and its all tricked out with a big bore kit, dmc pipe, manual clutch conversion, big bar kit, and an I-shock in the back. I was looking at the title and I remember my old title clearly stating off road use only. Now the title I got with this 50 is just like any other title. It doesn't say off road use only anywhere on the title. Could I get away with putting lights on it and try and title it and plate it?

I know, I plan on going there when I get the lights on. I was just curious to see what you guys thought about my title not having the off road use only on it.

Yep mine is. It is registered as a Honda 50 moped. It has a sank frame with bbr numbers. It is about impossable to do in Florida there was 3 of us that had them now I think I am the only one. The thing that sucks is the stator goes out atleast 1 time a year

Re: plating my 50 in IL

Check the top left box (or close to it). It'll have the initials ORV or something to that nature....Off Road Vehicle........But YES you can still get it registered for the streets with a little bit of work..........=-)

Re: plating my 50 in IL

Ivan are you on CR?

Do you have pics of the bike? It sounds like my old one. I was the only person with a DMC pipe.

www.ChicagoRiders.com (lots of local 50 riders here and big bikes, dirt etc)

Re: plating my 50 in IL

It depends on the "Moped Rules" in your state. I know in NH the law is " a moped engine must be 50cc or under and must be an automatic transmission" so in NH a 50 cannot be registered as a moped. But you might be able to get it by as a motorcycle. go to your local DMV and as for a Drivers Education Book. It will give the moped laws in there. And it will be helpfull when every cop pulls you over thinking that your illegal. Just whip it out and show them. but good luck
