Burt The Hurt

Just the other day a freind of mine told me that she wants to try a wheelie. So she hopped on the back and I did a couple small sit-downs and she loved it. Last night we did a couple more and she was exstatic..... she couldn't get enough. Any two-up stunters have any helpful hints for us? I Don't want to go down alone, and definatly not with a passenger.... :YEAH

are you used to riding with someone on the back normally? I found that when I rode around with a person on the back for a while, just to get used to it, it was a lot easier to do the 2up thing. Of course I was doin endo's with a 110lbs. chick so it feels like there is no difference.

take it one thing at a time. start with sit-downs. do some standups and work your way from there. have her wear gear though. brian127, i hope she never falls. a girl that is well known just got pitched over the front wearin' nothin' but a helmet. the rest of her is tore up pretty good and they weren't even going that fast. even if i don't wear gear i always make her wear it. tried to upload a couple of pics but it won't let me dammit. i'll try later

Yeah a girl we all know pretty well. All I told her was that she was a dumbass. Not much sympathy... Even though we are pratically best friends. It mad me so mad to see her that way. I didnt lecture her because she learnt the hard way..I could post tons of pics.. And yeah her ***** got it too...!! Took me over 4 hours total to clean the asphault from Gixxie

start slow. do more when u feel comfortable tho. it hurts to flip a highchair stoppie and have a bike land on you. even tho we were wearin gear we still got served.

Okay as EVERYONE should know.....WEAR YOUR GEAR! And I'd recommend the JYNCO jeans for BOTH of you....they hold up much better than "girlie" jeans IF you go down! Start off with the basics....you didn't learn to walk without crawling first. May sound teacher like....but when you're risking 2 lifes not just one the basics are what you ALWAYS start with. Steve and I have been stunting 3 years now.....and we had to learn to communicate using body language while we stunted so that we both knew what was going on with the bike at ALL times. Make sure SHE IS READY to move to the next stunt.....and as hard as it is you're going to have to distinguish between her actually being ready to go to the next stunt or if it's just the adrenaline talking. Her freaking out 'cause she's not really ready is both your worst enemy.

As for what to have her hold on to. I hold on to Steve's jacket pockets......he leaves them unzipped and I can pull it tight around his waist. Keeping the jacket tight against Steve's waist keeps me from pulling/yanking backwards on him during the stunt. If the jacket is leather it will stay close to his stomach and he never feels my movements behind him. She needs to understand that you are NOT A JOY STICK.....meaning she doesn't use YOU to balance herself.....NO MATTER WHAT! She has to keep balanced on her own, if you allow her to use you at first she will never break that habit and as the stunts get riskier.....the more that becomes a REAL ISSUE.

I would recommend setting up for each stunt.....show her where you want her to start off.....an example is you in a Special K and she's in your seat and when you wheelie her legs go out to the side (Steve and I call this Black Widow)....you need to tell her that before she brings her legs out to the side....the bike should already be in the wheelie......if she brings her legs out right off the bat, it makes it harder to bring the bike up. Her movements need to be smooth.

All in all.....be safe. If in doubt, DON'T DO IT! I hope some of this helped and if you need anything else....just ask or PM someone like Carms, Steve or I......we know Tandem from it's beginning.

Although I have not met gixxie or any of you for that matter hope you get better soon and good thing you were wearing your helmet cause that would have sucked to get rash on your beautiful face. Sorry but just clearing up that I am not tryin to be sarcastic I just seriously think she is a pretty looking girl. Good luck healing up.

I just started doing 2 ups... Its scary... I know it will take time for us both to learn each others ways on the bike!!! Scary but looks pimp as hell!!!

Hey droptop. it will be two weeks this weekend that it happened to Gixxie. She will be fine. We were in Orlando wed night riding for the bike night out there. Shes a trooper.. but we are going to a plastic surgeon to see what he can do about the scars. I keep yelling at her not to itch them but she wont stop and pics at them constantly.. But she is doing great.. Already back out riding. Hey Cat....

Hey Carms....Steve told me that Gixxie and Reed ate it pretty hard doing that LeapFrog stunt we did at StuntWars......I can't stress enough to her or any other female out there stunting....WEAR YOUR GEAR! I know that they want to "show off" their bodies but road rash ain't sexy.......Wear the skimpy close AFTER you're done stunting......Gixxie and I have gone back and forth for years now about the JYNCO jeans I wear stunting.....but I can still wear shorts in the summer time.......Hope that surgeon can help her, but I can't feel sorry for her at all......she should've known better than that. But I do hope that she gets better soon.
