Re: What do you drive?

well there is very little left in them that comes inside a off the shelf buddy club. John mueller of muellerized completely went through them. The problem is, is that in some classes your penalized for coilovers that retail for more the $750 each so what you do is buy something cheaper that has a strong body and such and replace the valving and such. Sure they won't ever be as good as motons or penske's but they are Worlds ahead of any crap off the shelf teins or jic's or anything like that. I think later next your I'm going to try and change over to some Ohlins or something though.

I had a set of Motons on my S13, and my old 911 porsche(race car) They were amazing to say the least. It was hard to drive the car to it's full potential because of the greatness of the suspension.. But the price was just ridiculous.

I ended up Switching to DG-5's on my s13 for my drifting needs, But during an event i came sideways over a 3 foot bump and ended up bending a rear coil-over body. (HOW THE ****!!???)

Sold em'

I ended up selling my Moton/DG-5 set-up and switching to
a Koni 8610/8611 setup with Swift springs. (Best decision I have ever made in my life, Comparable to my Motons. but cheaper) Even though I lost the ability to easily adjust my ride height, it was worth it.
8610 custom valved, Etc..:

Koni doesn't offer any twin tube, double adjustable shock that would work for the rear, So i had them convert a Koni Yellow to do the job and match the performance of an 8611. 550l/b springs in the front and 425 in the rear.

Best decision Ever!!

I would say Invest in some custom valved Koni/Sachs/Ohlins/Bilstein shock with a Spring combo. They perform better for Road racing then Any coilover I have ever run.

Re: What do you drive?

no one makes shocks for the evo. the options are MR bilsteins, stock, or coilovers.

Re: What do you drive?

Damn.. Go with the Ohlins then..
Or possibly modify the stock Bilsteins with custom Dampening/Valving?

What I did on the 240 Was make a custom shock housing to incorporate the 8611. I'm sure that would be possible on your Evo aswell..

Re: What do you drive?

Theres really no reason to. Considering companies with unlimited budgets like AMS, GST, HKS, ect all use custom valved coilovers I would assume that if there was a better alternative that they would have already come up with it. Also a lot of the setup at this level is going to be based strongly on drivers preference, and the reason being is that at a club level one of the largest contributers to going fast is confidence and not so much the sheer performance of the setup. What I would like is a nice proven setup that way when Im having an issue its going to most likely be a driver problem and I wont end up chasing my setup around trying to get it right when all I needed to do was work on me.

Yeah your right..
I guess for older cars it's a bit different in terms of set-up..
