Anyone considered giving up?

Let's face it, this sport isn't the easiest thing in the world, and it can grow pretty damn costly... so who here has considered throwing in the towel? I had an accident yesterday and fucked up my 636 pretty bad, me being a broke *** and having bills has really made me consider fixing/selling the 636 and just sticking w/ my zx10 and being strictly a cruiser for a while... the fact that stunt progress has slowed down a lot lately really makes this option appealing right now ...just trying to see if others have had this feeling before.

Re: Anyone considered giving up?

bikes cost money, yes. but you can always find parts or a replacment bike
you can not replace your talent. don't flush it. give yourself some time to recover.
did you learn from your mistake?...yes. good.
don't give up. stunting is a sick *** and up and comming sport.
and in a few years from now are you going to say?
I used to do those stunts on my bike.
or
I can do those stunt on my bike.

Re: Anyone considered giving up?

I think about it all the time. But stunting fills such a void in life, it would be hard. I gave up stoppies, and that was hard enough.

Yeah, I gave up endo's after my last big expensive wreck. Yesterday I managed to destroy my tail, huge dent in the side of my tank, and busted my upper and most associated parts (cracked top of headlight, ram air tube, and stay)... it just pisses me off and really gives me a "for what?" kind of feeling? Buying the bike and setting it up I've already spent just shy of $4k, just so I can go out and destroy it. I do it for myself only, but it kinda sucks that stuntriding in general gets no recognition, and the general public thinks it's stupid.

Yeah, I guess if I stay with it I'm gonna have to rock no upper for a while, because I can't afford to fix it right now, as much as I hate to. I really don't know what I will do at this point, this **** sucks... if I do stay with it I hope I hit a curve soon haha

its not the money to me, its the injuries. Every year it hurts more and more. Lately I spend more time recovering from injuries than I do riding.

Re: Anyone considered giving up?

every year at least 3 times I'll want to give it all up. Usually its a mix between money, not being able to advance on my trick list, or the lack of spots to ride at.

Actually a few weeks ago I was thinking of selling everything and just getting a bike to cruise around on because I lost my only good spot here in Clanton. Now its about a 45 minute-1 hour drive to get to the closest spot.

I am not doing this for fame, fortune, and bitches. Just pure enjoyment of having the bike on one wheel.

Re: Anyone considered giving up?

definately fills that void... before it was nothing but drinking, video games and drugs, no sports (gave those up after college). now all that matters to me is my family and riding, its all about gettin on the bike with the homies and helpin each other out. if you want some publicity go to the next big ride get together and show everyone what you got.:YEAHyah this sport is expensive... **** i still owe 9k on my two year old stunt bike thats beat to ****. streetfighter that bad boy to keep costs minimal and get after it. ive already had to buy swingarm, subframe, two new wheels, 3 sets of rearsets, and i dont know how many clip ons. learning curves take time, and so does repairing your bike. your bike doesnt decay sitting for a few weeks, you have all the time in the world just take it a paycheck at a time

Re: Anyone considered giving up?

i love to ride/stunt

i spent years in the lot and was pretty good.. did shows n this n that...

but

stunting takes up ALOT of my personal time ..time away from friends n family.. time off job...ect ect..

i quit riding everyday in the lot...

and started riding /stunting on the streets and im way more happy ..

..riding the streets we meet tons of new people everyday opposed to sititngin the lot with the 4-5 stunters practicing for hours on end.

the streets are where its at for me.

i still stop at the lot a few times a week when everybodys there... but ride only to freshen up my skillz and teach everybody else some new skills...

take some pics and **** liek that...

then go back to the streets where the fun is at

Man I like your mentality, all I want to do is slow a basic sitdown or stand-up wheelie down for killing the streets, all the extra stuff is nice but I just can't see me doing it all the time and it's not justifiable when I don't have that much time doing the week to ride anyways. Streets is where it started with me and that's where it will end, when I'm all said and done with riding, until then that wheel will be up in the air every chance I get!:YEAH

Re: Anyone considered giving up?

I think i secretly want to quit stunting. But I cant.

Ever ride around and not wheelie? It just feels pointless
