What I want to know is how ti mmy can claim to be broke when he makes 10K a year more than my new pay rate. I showed him a link to a set of $190 craftsman tools, the same one I have. he said "that's nice but I don't have that kind of money right now" and it was ******* payday!

Take your salary and divide it by 2,000. That is your equivelent hourly pay. Ex- 36,000 a year=$18 an hour.
I cut back my 401 to the point of the match (6%). I am going to keep it there, but start fully funding my Roth IRA every year, until I start making real baller $ and end up in a higher tax bracket even with all the pre tax deductions.
