Im trying to buy a bike with a salvage title in the state of vermont. I live in new york state. Ive hear i can just walk into VT dmv and put a salvage bike on the road, is this true? and can i use my NYS insurance to do so?

no and no. ny is super hard to get inspected. need to have all receipts, etc, i believe.

vt is super easy but you gotta have an addy to register it in...i also think the ease of 'washing' salvage titles went out the door more than a couple years ago.

Teach is correct.

To register it in VT you must have a VT address and drivers license. If you or a friend can fill these two requirements you still need to have the bike inspected before it can be registered as a "Rebuilt" title.

In VT a rebuilt title allows you to do anything a clean title does, just shows that the vehicle has been rebuilt for future purchasers.

If your buying the bike in vermont then bringing to NY you'll have to go through NY salvage rebuild process....GOOD LUCK....NY is a pain in the dick trying to get salvaged bikes rebuilt

you need to get one that is already rebuilt in VT. try any get a hold of some of the Albany guys i know for a fast some of then have VT plates. Ask them how they did it..

i think all states are diff. but in ohio before you can even do inspection the bike has to be registered in ohio. and when i did inspection i told the guy i bought the bike AS IS only thing i bought was a mirror and gave him the receipt from walmart for a bicycle mirror had cage d/b bars h/b and acebris headlight and they made me street legally lol dunno if that helps any...
