Re: where to buy cheap bikes? auctions?

Depending on the bike, it varies.....I lost out on an 03' 636 last week, that needed left plastic, left clip on, rear plastic and shifter lever and rearset and it went for $850.00 with a salvage title.
14,000 miles

There was a 06' 636 that was mint except for the left plastic, and the frame had a very small dent, maybe nickel sized, and very soft, meaning barely visible. it only had 4,000 miles, but it went for $2850.00

There are good deals on there, just a matter of looking where there at, and having to go wherever to go get them.

You can also buy bikes that are demolished and have junk titles, meaning parts only for next to nothing. They had a 929, not sure what year, frame broken completely, front tire gone, rear bent beyond imaginable, engine cases broke etc. but still alot of good useable stuff. I believe it went for like $125.00

craigslist can often be a good resource. i mean, at least you can search places that are near you and go check the bike out yourself

that's what i did
