Re: Tubing size?

From what i was reading about his its only jammed in to place... Maybe i just was reading it wrong... I'm wanting to make something a bit more sturdy .. His may be fine but you know what i mean Lol I will hit you up when i get one made maybe i will make a few Lol i work in the office at a steel yard/hardware store so i get my **** cheap more then willing to help you out...

But i am looking to do about what ownage did... Just give the rear fender some support .... I keep ******* it up when standing on it... I have been messing around with SS.. And with me its more of a FS Lol Im 6'3 and dont really like standing on the seat fender works out better for me... But i want something that will work for that and something i could mess around with scraping... maybe using just some round bar that can fit inside it... I have no clue like i said just brain storming and have nothing to do tonight figured i might as well figure out a good way to make one..

Wow that was a ramble lol

And Ownage i know you will see this so when you do hit me up with some info!

Re: Tubing size?

Use 5/8 to 3/4 cold rolled steel, look at the back of mine and you will see. Torch and a vice is all you need.

How is that connected on there though? It looked like there was some type of machined bracket holding it on... And i don't anything to work with like that I may end up just building a whole new sub frame... But first wana see if i can make something to go in to the little tube it already has and be able to reinforces and try to make it worth a ****...

If that is the case, you can use 1/2 or 3/8 cold rolled steel. Beat it down into the tubes and tack weld it, and you should be good. An ole buddy of mine, LTW cut his sub frame off and welded a new one on, and it worked perfect, but it helps if you weld, or know someone who does... I have built 12bars, roller bars, and hoops. Trust me, hoops are the way to go...

Yeah i weld have one at home and everything thats not a problem at all for me.. For now i think i am just going to do what you just said but i really would like to make my own sub frame for it that would be sick.. Would you happen to know what size the tube is though? I.D is really what i am needing and i cant find it anywhere... I am am wanting to be able to slide it as far in to the bend as i can so i dont have to worry about hitting it to hard...

Re: Tubing size?

Pretty sure it's 1/2" but I will check. There is a ridge inside the stock tubes you don't see, but you can feel it. 1/2" might seem small, but with the ridge inside the stock tubes, it will work. I will also see if I can track down some pics of the subframe my buddy made. 12 bar added as well, but he finally went to a hoop too. I will try to get some up tonight for you.

Cool That. I am only 140 so pretty much everything I build has to be tested by other people. One of our riders slammed my bar and I think he was 170-175 with no problem at all.

Hey, where is Krum at? How far from Huntsville? We might need to hook up for a ride next time I am out there...

I'm 45 southeast of Dallas, so about 1.5 hours away. Not bad at all for a ride. Got any spots around there?

Re: Tubing size?

IF it were me, i'd built it to look like the round 12-bars for the big bikes. I like the look of the round bar hugging the 636 fender.....That one prickster has looks like he got ran over by a snowboard, LMAO.....But i have no doubt that it works for what he needs it to do.....I just like the clean shaved look. Who cares if its an 11 oclock or 10 oclock bar. Its still gonna protect the bike when it needs to....Also, i find the shorter = the stronger......My 2 cents...=-)

I am going short for sure like you said.. right now i am not really worried about scraping it and when i am i want it to be super scrapes And when i build the new sub frame it will for sure hug the rear fender
