Selling on Ebay?

I been doing allot of thinking lately and I really need to get another job. But what??? I saw a book on Amazon called, Selling on ebay for dummies, so I bought it. Good book, Anyway's I know allot of people do this and it sounds like it would be a good job. No boss but yourself, working at home. And since this will be a second job...well. My question is for those of you who sell on ebay, is the money good?, what are some ideas for selling?. I'm in the military...hints the second job and there is always people selling shit dirt cheap because they are getting shipped off. So is this a good idea or should I look else where??? Thanks

There are many tricks to sellin on Ebay.

Its very time consuming as well. Yeah you can make a living doing it, but Im sure you would have more free time if you got normal job 9-5.

StuntLife is proof that EBay works. Thats how I started! Stunters dont buy shit.... I still use ebay to pay my bills.

One thing I found, to sell enough on Ebay to pay your bills and make a living, you need to have ALOT of stock of whatever you are selling. You need to have you shipping dialed in etc etc etc

Anyway, all I have to say is... there are MILLIONS of people on ebay, and a very very small percentage make thier living off of it.
It can be done, but its a rough and bumpy road/

Yeah, I thinks Shuggs summed it up good.

We moved this summer so my woman had a lawn sale to sell all the stuff not worth packing and a guy stopped by. He bought all kinds of unusual stuff that we had for cheap (you know, boxes marked "All for $0.50"), and picked up anything we had laying around marked free.

We were talking to him and he said he makes a living selling stuff on Ebay. He said that he travels around in the summer everyday all over the place looking for lawn sales and free stuff on the side of the road. He then takes it and sells it on Ebay.

He said you wouldn't believe what some people would buy. I guess his biggest attraction is cheap antiques and old stuff that looks valuable. He said that there are tons of collectors on there looking for stuff.

Anyway, if you look around on Ebay you will find products selling on there for more than they do in the stores. My woman uses it a lot and sells on there a lot too. She by far doesn't make enough worth quitting her job over, but a little unexpected cash is always good. She goes through the sale papers every Sunday to find good bargains in the stores...when she finds a deal on a certain product she'll go on ebay and see what they are going for there. If ebay is more expensive she'll pick a few things up at the store and list 'em on ebay. It's a quick and easy way to make $10-$20 (or sometimes more) per item. She also goes on a lot of "freebie" sites and signs up to receive free coupons on baby items, and cigarettes and stuff like that. You can actually make a good percentage for selling coupons on there. I can't remember exactly what she had, but I think she had a few books of $5.00 off coupons for cigs that she got from a freebie site on the web. She'd list like a $20.00 book of coupons on there and get like $5.00 off of it, not bad when you have 5 or 6 books.

Anyway, I've rambled enough.

Take care.

-Josh

I used to sell dvds on ebay and made pretty good money doing it, but yes.. it was very time consuming. I'm always selling stuff on ebay even now, but not at the same volume that I used to. I need to find something else to start selling on ebay. I really need a 2nd job

We started on Ebay with about $200 in our pockets and no jobs and one of us was a full time student, selling off some things we had laying around in the way of automotive interests, then used that money to buy more stuff at a swapmeet where we met our first contact. And now we are the one of the biggest distributers for this company with the exception of Summit and Jeg's, but in a matter of 15 months of selling on Ebay we have purchased 2 cars, next week will buy our 2nd motorcycle (totalled the 1st xmas eve) a dirt bike and a 4 wheeler, and 3 weeks ago signed on our first house which we had custom built to our desires. I would say Ebay has dealt us pretty good hand, we sell over $30,000 a month on Ebay, it pays all of our bills and we only spend about 3 hours a day working and are both now looking for 2nd jobs just to have some additional money on the side to spend a bit more money on the fun toys like the motorcycle. Ebay is a great community but the best thing you can have is the absolute greatest customer service which is what I would like to say brought us as far as we have come.

a friend of mine bought a partially wrecked 91 taurus SHO, this car had a HUGE list of mods to it, he paid $700 for the car and has already made back $1100 just in selling the aftermarket parts, cant go wrong, just seems the whole shipping deal would be a pain the ASS
