DVD Menu's

Got some quesitons about how to make the DVD Menus, like scene selections and what not. Also where a good place is to get videos put on to VHS and also onto DVD.

I know Baker is heavy into the film editing, so if you see this i could really use your help man. Just got a few questions.

My msn name is under sellout007@hotmail.com and my AIM name is selloutsoldout

If anyone else has any info, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thats where the money is now in DVD menu making. I'm still learning. Best thing to do is look for a place who does DVD authoring and look for a duplication company. The more units you buy the cheaper it gets..lol

Darius might have some input for ya in regards to duplication and DVD authoring. I believe you should just pay someone who knows DVD authoring and thats done ...there are tons of duplication companies around throughout the nation.

What city are ya in again?

Hope this helps in some ways...its quite easy to get everything together, but there will be some hurdles to jump in the road to finishing the final version...STRESS!!!!

Ive been doing some research on DVD software. And Ulead has one that allows you to make some menus. Do you know of any other software bundles that let you do this? Or have any that you recomend?

As for mass producing a DVD or VHS tape, do you have any companies youd suggest?

Let me know.

What city do you live in? I'll help locate a duplicator for ya out there.

ReelDVD is the only way to go! It's a little harder to use then the other drag and drop software, but all the other software I've used so far sucks for authoring menus. With ReelDVD you can at least customize all your own buttons. The only thing I don't like about ReelDVD is that the highlight on the button when your selecting the menu item has to be square, at least as far as I've found. A couple more problems I've had with ReelDVD was getting the video in the right MPEG format to import and I had to use some other software to burn the DVD because ReelDVD only burns directly to SCSI drives or DLT tape drives. Now that I got everything working it's a piece of cake and my DVD's look killer.

we've used ulead, we've used reel .....neither one are perfect, as they're only consumer grade, not built for full on customization

we use ulead to kick out one-off's onto DVD-R's cause the program is a no brainer, and the built in menu's and button effects aren't too bad

if you are truly serious about doing DVD authoring on your own, alot of professionals use Apple's DVD Studio Pro....its really where's it at if you want your product to look like the studios do (check out our menus on Project Mayhem: Las Vegas)

oh yeah, you'll need to have a mac to use DVD Studio Pro....but then again, thats where its at for editing too.....thats a whole different discussion tho....LOL

sorry to bust in on your thread baker....much love!

Ive thoguht about buying an apple and having both, but i dont have the cash right now and my PC can do everythign an apple can do just as well. haha

And i dont need super duper professional quality here. Me and my buddy are just startinga very very small editing gig. Just like family videos, maybe some stuff for churches. Not charging alot, just some extra spending money and helping friends out. Most of all i just want it for the experience.

Thanks for the input though!

no problem at all....you should always gauge what you're going for as far as what tool you should use to acomplish it. if you plan to just do smaller projects for light editing and presentation, then it wouldnt make sense to go for the biggest gun out there

either reel dvd or ulead are plenty for what you're doing

MACs are for newbies..LOL

Stick with the best ....IBM's. / desktops (Normal computers) LOL

MACs cost to much to simple repairs and NO programs out there to get for free you got to buy the damn things!

I have over 50k worth of software for FREE!!! Thats the way I like it...

Tyson...I laughing at this as I'm busting on you! Please take this as a joke. I hope you don't use MAC's but it sounds like you do....sad story!
