Best Used Full Size Truck??

Im looking at buying a good used full size truck. Has to have V8 motor and am looking at ford f150, chevrolet, dodge, and gmc. Im looking for extended cab auto. Anyways, out of all those, what would be the best most dependable? Im not to familiar with domestic engines and the life of them. Oh and the truck is going to be around 10 years old or so.

Re: Best Used Full Size Truck??

i just sold my nissan hardbody which i didnt think would ever die. i need to v8 to tow my boat and trailer with 4 wheelers. I dont want to be bogged down. Yeah a toyota would be nice but they hold there value to long so its hard to find a good deal. i found a nice lifted ford f150 with 37". I wonder how bad the fuel mileage would be with those tires.

Re: Best Used Full Size Truck??

i like the 04/05 and up fx4 f150's...

but for the $ you can get a 2000-2004 silverado 1500 for like 5-8 grand... them LS motors will run forever. Just make sure u get it off someone that maintained the truck.

7.3 Powerstrokes can be found pretty cheap too... cant loose with them things.

Re: Best Used Full Size Truck??

All good trucks. I stay away from anything Ford. I've had two, problems. Spent $12000 in 3 yrs after it hit 75000 miles. Had spark plugs blowing, etc.

My buddies have an 08.09.10....

All three have had the same problems. The new body on fords has a different head.

All three friends had probs. The '10 had warranty and was covered, the other two had to buy a new motor and new head, respectively.

Instead of blowing, like mine did, they mushroom and the plug drops in the motor.

Screw ford. Had them, buddies had the , nah.... Unless you are buying diesel but only certain yrs. If I recall right go 7.3 NOT 6.0... The new ones have twin turbo melting the exhaust manifolds etc. I read last week on the top five worst vehicles to by value wise was the f250 at number 1. After my ford I got a Nissan Titan and those have extremely weak rear ends and manifold crack like mine did after 9mo. I also paid hundred in parts like the air conditioning deal which costed $250. Then 6 mo later failed and grinded the plastic gears again. I go the new body Silverado and it's a win win win. Anything 07 and above you are covered under warranty for 100k miles with no added costs, parts are everywhere like napa, Autozone, kragen, etc and cheap. All at no added costs or extra fees to add on.

You can get upgrades galor! Superchargers, turbos, etc for reasonable prices.

Go chevy man and I'm not trying to be unreal, etc.

Now my buddy had a dodge diesel and the thing is a beast. You can't kill it. But once diesel hit $5 a summer or so ago he spent $200/tank and he himself stated "it'll last forever but dude, for reals, diesel is gonna go back up and it's gonna hurt like no gas bill you had in that you've ever felt. It's H1 hummer gasoline pain man..."

So that turned me away from diesel honestly after talking to others and hearing their painful diesel cost stories..

Go chevy unleaded and be happy. Plus I get 400 miles to a tank if you drive slow and calm...

My Titan got 275 per full tank and probs. Don't let that Japanese name fool you. Tundras look good but have frame rust problems. In fact, they recalled 10yrs of them. They also have crankshaft probs, trannie failure after 60k miles, etc. Parts? Fudge that! They'll eat you up as parts are proprietary and can only buy dealer.

Great trucks until **** breaks which isn't uncommon. The old body did ok but had probs too! Toyota has had nothing but probs for the last couple hrs on multiple yrs and models. The value on a toyota has fallen like an old man sky diving, on Viagra, with no parachute.

Looks don't mean dependable and cost efficient....

GO CHEVY! Best value, strongest market, best warranty, great mpg, great price, cheap parts, not going out of business bc the USA owns shares in their market and uncle Sam isn't in to lose money!

I've been lookin' at trucks too, if you really want a v8, and something that has ***** to tow... Look into the older f250s! 7.3 turbo diesels are beasttt, good on gas, and last forever.
