When you were 12 would have been fucking with a an officer like that?
If the boy's parents had raised him right, he would have known to listen to a police officer.
I blame bad parenting on the boys death. Thats just my 2cents.

It sounds to me like he was prolly on edge because of the stake out, then when the kid came up with a toy gun, he was scared and trigger happy.

Made a very big mistake, but most people will never know that exact circumstances.

People get fired every day because they suck at their job. I was fired from a dish washing job once because I just wasent good at washing dishes. That goes for cops too. We have good ones and not so good ones. It just sucks that sometimes someone has to pay with thier life before we figure it out.

And I don't think it was racialy motivated. Just to be sure, someone should call Al Sharpten or Jessie Jackson

I think this pretty much sums it up:

What I see in all of this is...a child who should have not been out without a parent that late at night at all much less carrying a GUN, toy or otherwise, is told to drop the gun. He does not do so therefore the officer, believing he was in danger, quite correctly with the facts he has at that instant, defends himself.

Tragic? Yes. Horrible? Yes. Preventable? Yes...by the parents. Civil rights violation? Hardly.

+1, I completly agree with that. Its no joke playin like that....I remember back in like '93 I was with my dad at the airport and his shoes kept setting off the metal detector....I said "it must be that dynamite", I have never seen situation get so serious so quick, there for a minute I thought they were gonna strip search him

for shooting a fleeing car and killing the suspect,
because the law says
you've got to find EVERY POSSIBLE SOLUTION, each and every one
before even pulling the gun from the holster.

When i was a 12 year old boy, I knew not to point my toy guns at cops.


And it wasnt because my parents taught me, its because of common sense. The hand of Darwin eliminates people without any brains.

plus most toy guns have some kinda identification on them ie orange tip to signal that they are a toy. some of these toy guns are dead ringers untill closer examination.......no pun intended

It's a shame the kid got shot and the cop made a huge judgement error. If the area is so bad the parents should have kept a closer eye on the kid, bottom line.

I just have one question: why is it any time a situation like this happens people need to pull the race card. White cop black kid with a gun, must be the racist white devil trying to gun down all the apressed black folk. Now if a black cop shoots a white kid, what a shame that cop made a mistake read about it on pg 8. Then if we convict him for wrong doing the system convicted him because he was black.

Im not trying to start a hate colomn, but I think the problem is people like you that throw racially charged statements out there and get people fired up for bs.

How about the case has already been MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACKED TO DEATH......and the findings have been stated! No one here posting was there, unless you are in that specific situation you don't know what you will do....Everybody has their opinion but the one that matters rendered a decision....
