The 08 Hybrid Tahoe, 1st full size

The thing that gets me is between the 4 and 2 wheel drive there is only 1 mile difference in gas.

Also, they hwy and city mileages are the same...

Re: The 08 Hybrid Tahoe, 1st full size

hybrids are crazy, i remember the first escape we got that was hybrid, it kept cuting off during pdi(pre delivery inspection). we where like wtf, then we realized it was hybrid, waited for it to cut off, then put it in gear and the sob took off out the shop, that was funny. ford recomends you buy special gloves that expire and some kinda fiberglass stick incase you have to pry a tech off the hub

so you have to wait for it to "shut off" before leaving?

Next, this is VERY confusing. Please elaborate on everything stated here. WTF ar eyou talking about? gloves? pry a tech off? WTF?

Dude, speak english. Most people knwo nothing about a damn hybrid here. I know I don't. I know it isn't a 4x4 diesel so the "hub" isn't on the wheel. So what the hell are you talking about man?

Re: The 08 Hybrid Tahoe, 1st full size

ok so at certain rpm the gas engine shuts of and it runs on the electric motor. when doing the pdi you inspect the vehicle, so it has to be running for the computer to read the obd2 stuff for inspection. it would shut off(we thought), but what it was actually doing is was switching to the electric motor! the part about the hubs is it uses the brakes to recharge the batterys so there are like extremely strong magnets in the hub . so if you have a metal tool or something in your hand it will suck it to the hub if you get to close. we(the dealership i work at) are not certified to work on them so im not real sure exactly how the hub things works/charges the battery.

Re: The 08 Hybrid Tahoe, 1st full size

arent the life spans of the electric cells and motor relatively short on these things? i remember that was a huge issue when hybrids first came out. the cost of repairs made it uneconomical. perhaps they've made the technology better though. another 7-10 years and we'll see.

not sure about that however this is not the first time i have heard it. i heard that disposal of the battery was very costly. and hope to god you don't have to replace the battery( the hybrid battery not normal one)
part number 8m6z-10b759-b sugested retail cost 6,913.42

Re: The 08 Hybrid Tahoe, 1st full size

if you want a hybrid buy a prius... hands down probably the best one so far and probably the best one for the next few years.

if youre the hybrid type of guy.

but buying an SUV hybrid to try to save on gas is just stupid.. everytime i see ppl with their LEXUS's that are hybrids i just shake my head at them..
the ls640 hybrid i actually saw one and gave the guy thumbs down..

use all the gas you possibly can cause when i'm about 40 theres gonna be no more of it

Everyone sensationalizes it. Toyota has a 8 year, 100k warranty on their hybrid system and you can replace individual cells in their batteries, so the large replacement charge is bogus unless the whole battery went out. It would be like replacing the engine if a ring went bad.

gotcha. i still dont like to get technology when its brand spankin new though. i rather give them time to fix all the little bugs that may arise.

plus, i'm broke.
