![]() | Build or Buy a Tranny Jack I need to replace the clutch on my truck, and part of that procedure is getting the transmission off. I was thinking that I could probably build a plate or mount and bolt it onto my car jack and that'll work fine. But I just want to get this done ASAP so if I could find one of those inexpensive transmission jacks (or just a product like I described above that bolts onto a standard jack) then please tell me where I could pick one up for less. Thanks. |

![]() | Re: Build or Buy a Tranny Jack That's pretty much what I plan to do now.. Really don't have any money to burn on a little transmission jack adapter, I just don't want to drop it or bend/break anything. |

![]() | Re: Build or Buy a Tranny Jack Yesterday I got the driveshaft, transmission, and clutch off. No problems. To be on the safe side, I built a simple rig that fit tightly around the transmission and bolted it to my floor jack. Everything went really smooth all things considered. My biggest problem while doing this (which made me approach everything cautiously) was that I did not have any perspective on how heavy everything would be. But now I could put everything back together in a few hours because I've now got some experience... Thanks for the advice. ![]() |
