It's only wrong in your mind because of the culture you live in. Even the leading authorities on breastfeeding in this country ADVOCATE prolonged breast feeding of children because of the vast benefits that come from it. In their recommendations they say at least a year, but breast feeding can safely continue as long as mutually agreed upon by mother and child. There have been numerous studies linking prolonged breast feeding and high IQ's. I don't think that a 10 year old should be ripping his mother's shirt off, but it is common in this country for mothers to breastfeed children that are 5, 6, 7, and so on. They just do it out of the public eye because of the stigma that has been attached to it by Americans.

With that being said, I think there is a time when enough is enough. I think it would be a little tough when a 6 year old in Kindergarten throws a fit because the teet isn't there when he's ready.
