Re: Whadda you bench?

It's easier with a wider grip b/c you are using more of your pecs instead of your tris if you are doing close grip. If a guy can't do at least 150 that is kinda scary. I can't do it anymore but when I was a regular at the gym the was my one rep max. Guys should be able to do at least their weight and a half if not double... just my from what I've seen

Only strong people can do 150-200% of their body weight. I can only do about 120% myself.

The average for a male is 88% according to a periodical I read once.

Re: Whadda you bench?

GOod thread. And you're completely right about size not mattering. I think a lot of it has to do with how controlled you are when lifting. A lot of the big guys go in there and load the shit out of the bar, then do one or two reps letting the bar come down as fast as it can go. Then go talk for about 10 minutes and do it again. I personally wish I could do about 30lbs more. I'm stuck at 260. Granted I weigh 190, with 7% body fat, But i'd much rather be bigger than cut.

I'm going for strength more so than size. I'm not trying to be excessively lean either. 7% is probably right where I want to be at. I was at 13.8% according to a 9 pt. caliper test last month, and I'd suspect a mid, maybe low 13 right now.
I think I'll start the creatine loading here in a few minutes. I didn't want to do it this morning because I had a drug test for a new job, and I didn't want to take any chances, though I highly doubt it'd trigger anything, but it is also a fairly large amount all at once. And I happen to have the old monohydrate kind, so my loading is going to consist of 10 grams/day for, I'm thinking 2 weeks. Sound about right? Then I'd go down to something like 5 grams/day at that point?
In anycase, you guys posted more impressive numbers than I was expecting, but on the other hand, probably only the strongest, for the most part, responded. When I see pictures and movies on this site, everyone looks very thin. I was expecting a lot more 125s and 135s for bp maxs

You should try Methyl D. I've been taking it for about 6 months now, and it works well. I've kept my bodyfat low, and still eat shit food. But all my lifts have gone up considerably. Except my biceps. Fcuking things refuse to get bigger. What grip do you use when you're benching? I switched to a false grip, and it made a difference too.

Sorry, I can't help but say something else about this...Probably not even 1% of the male population can do 2 times their body weight. Time and a half is a rarity even at the gym. I can't think of any person I've personally seen do 2X, but I have read about it. My two gym partners are close, one's 216/415 bench, and the one's 150/~290 bench

I was using a grip, shoulder width apart. Now (Sorry to have to use a bar as reference, because the one you use may no be the same) On the bars at the gym, I put my ring fingers on the second smooth ring.

What the fuk are you smoking? I think it's damn near impossible to bench twice your weight. Sure you'll have exceptions, but as you are able to lift more weight, you're also going to be building more muscle/gaining weight. I've found the best way to increase your max is to actually gain weight. About creatine, I've been on it a few times and it just shoots your cardiovascular to hell. I usally run 5-10 miles and when I was on creatine I could barely do a mile.

Re: Whadda you bench?

there are plenty of people who can do doubletime. im at 165% right now but ive been stuck for a while.

for your stubborn biceps, do burnout sets on curls (cables if you have to), do one set 10 at a weight, drop it 10 lbs and do another set of ten right away, repeat until you cant wipe your own ass.

I still don't think loading creatine is necessary. dont taper off either keep it at a steady 5 for the cycle then cycle off.

Re: Whadda you bench?

As far as biceps go, I've had good luck with incline dumbbell curls for 6-8 reps. Just offering it as an alternative to above. Of course, you're going to want to do the heaviest weight you can do with minimal cheating (I personally refuse to cheat)

I can't stand seeing people in the gym swing up some weight, and tell everyone outside the gym about it. Put the same guy/girl, back against a wall, and they can't do 60% of what they claim.

Re: Whadda you bench?

i dont want to get into a huge arguement/discussion about this stuff here but just some words of advice for you all. 1 those andro poppers by pinnacle are a joke, as are most supplements. yes they have the right ingrediants but at such small doses. i dont remember who said they were taking this stuff but i would quit now. yo would have to do pretty much a whole bottle in a day or 2 to get the results you want. if you want a real ph buy some before the ban goes into effect. and if you dont know what im talking about dont buy anything. i cant stress enough that PH are not a joke. you need experience, supervision, and a good offcycle plan. i see lots of people buying m1t and not having any plans except taking it and growing. DONT BUY PH UNLESS YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. i only say this because if your reading this you probably want to get bigger and this is the easyest way. 2 be careful of creatine, i have bad kidneys and never touch the stuff. make sure you drink alot of water and dont go overboard, 3 weight matters not,(unless you are a powerlifter) arnold schwarzenegger would do dumbell flys with 60 lbs, i do them with 45 on incline! there are tons of people in the gym doin 60 or more. without form and a good contraction your just moving weights. well i already said more than i planned. ill try to answer questions if yall have any. dont take the easy way to muscle unless your willing to risk your liver, kidney, heart or a number of anything else giving out

That would be the false grip I was talkin about. Same grip I use for a lot of lifts now. And I still can't believe nobody has hit on protein yet. The most important supplement out of all of them.

PRotien is important, as well as adequate carbohydrate consumption and timing.
