I'm sorry Taz . I think you picked the right one though .

I will try to get a mod to change that choice to also say "or there are some things on a car i just don't work on" .

Mr. Farley is infamous around these parts
Re: Are you a mechanic ?

Transmissions I won't mess with, and have never ripped apart an import motor. I did a timing belt once on a Honda but that was a joke. Built plenty of cars from the ground up and a handful of bikes from the ground up. Only built one motorcycle motor. So unless it needs a diagnostics check (I don't have that machine) I think I can pretty much tackle most projects.

Re: Are you a mechanic ?

I do basic crap like change oil, but I'm always dropping stuff (bolts, tools) in the oil or into places I can't get them back. My mechanic friends like to laugh at me.

Re: Are you a mechanic ?

I can diagnose just about any problem, but actually fixing it (unless on a bike) can be a differant story. Mainly because of tools, but also because I don't like working on the floor, haha.

I can do simple stuff, (fluids, basic bolt-ons) I would like to learn more sometime down the road or even attend one of these trade schools like UTI or Wyotech.

You will do engines and trannies but not diffs, there easier then a manual trans to work on lol, oh and yes I am a mechanic for 12 years now. Master ASE lmao which makes me no more money what a waste.

Re: Are you a mechanic ?

I started working on my own dirt bikes and cars when I was younger, worked as a mechanic for 3 years took a 6 year break from working as a "mechanic" and now I am an auto mechanic again. being my own mechanic is the only way I could afford to do this shit. pay somebody to work on something for me, that's not a luxury I have.

Ok i didn't want to make this poll just to be 'Are you a mechanic' "A" yes "B" no .

So i added a few more picks . I also added the other types of mechanics . I probably should just have kept it Automotive .

If you are referring to fabing stuff on your bike that's cool , but that doesn't make you a mechanic . That makes you a fabricator . I understand if you can tear down your bike or car , but i think there would be something on your bike or on your car that you couldn't fix at home like balance a wheel , do an alignment , or scan a ecm in your garage . And that is why i made the pick 'sometimes i am limited to tools' .

Since this is the (Automotive) forum , maybe i should have only made it 'Do you get paid to bust your knuckles at work on automotive vehicles' .

Sorry for the confusion . If you choose a selection , please pick one that is most appropriate .

Re: Are you a mechanic ?

Something not alot of people have prob. heard of Im a certified healthcare mechanic. I work in engineering at my local hospital and work on everything that is in a hospital and around it that involves the hospital but phones, cable and computers. Pay is way better than a auto machanic. I also do alot of fabrications for off road and stunting
