02 yzf 600 still no spark
02 yamaha yzf 600 still no spark.
Thought this was going to be an easy fix but not so.
Replaced: Stator
Pick up coil
Ignition coils
Wire harness
Got 3 CDIs including original, 2nd 2 numbers vary slightly but supposed to fit 98-07
All switches seem to work fine can turn the bike over until the battery dies.
Battery charged has 12.5 V
throttle position sensor also passes tests.
Had the ignition re keyed and the lock smith broke the tabs on the connection plate but have fixed that and have continuity in pairs on the four wires as the manual states.
Tried connect all 4 wires and blew the main fuse, disconnected the kick stand sensor and can jump them with no problems or results.
tested the starter cut off relay and it failed 2 of the tests in the service manual.
New 1 should arrive monday, give it a go.
Would or could that relay be the cause of no spark???
I'm under the impression that it would keep the bike from turning over which it does all day long just with out a spark.
Any one have any suggestions on what to check or could/would be the cause of this no spark head ache??
hank god it's not my bike. Thanks Joe

Re: 02 yzf 600 still no spark
I haven't tested it, have read about it in another forum it's a 100 ohm resistor. where do I find it at? In the ignition? in line some where?

Re: 02 yzf 600 still no spark
resistor is in ignition, right under botton of cap, im having same problem with my cbr f4....... parts seem to be in working order, batt shows over 12 v to it, but ive had some issue like this before with one of my old f4's, that problem turned out to be the batt., so im wondering with my issue now if its not the same thing, the batt holds enough juice but might be doesnt have another juice under a load? I will borrow a good working batt from bros bike or take batt to have tested with load......whenever that time comes, cold as **** here now

Re: 02 yzf 600 still no spark
I took the ignition apart and there isn.t a resistor in it. But the 2 ibnition wires blue/yel&blue/blk due have a lower current throught them.. New relay should be here today try that then maybe a new battery. blue/lk to cdi and th other to the safety switches.

Re: 02 yzf 600 still no spark
^^^I took the ignition apart again and looked at what connects. Red connect to the brownish wire both hot when on. The 2 blue ones with the stripes connect with each other but not to the hot ones. Assembled on the bike they are grounds or grounded with as far as I got probing and tracing wires around the bike.
After stripping down the original harness nearly done rewrapping it and back to the orig.
Cleaned the kill and start boutton.
This weekend my friend will let me test my CDIs in has 04 r6 n find out if they all good.. back to the wiring diagram and bed.
