636 wont start and runs like shit - Service, Repair, and Maintenance

i put my dented tank on today i switched my fuel pump from the minty one to the dented one swapped the gas p[lugged it all up and now it wont start and if after many tries it does start itlll run for three or four seconds then die. i know the fuel pump is good and its all plugged up right the electrical and fuel line. so whats up possibly bad gas or shit sittin in the bottom of that dented tank?

it was completely dry but it make have sat so long that it turned into dirt like shit in there but it couldnt have been much seeings how there was no fuel pump or cap on it. would that make it not start all togethher. i think i read that if shit gets in your gas on a bike you gotta replace the whole fuel pump bc the filter is inside is that true?

could be both, i always drain the gas when changing pumps and check for gunk in the bottom of the tank...

Is the pump priming when you turn the ignition on?

i dont think that would have done it... did you try cracking open the gas cap to see if it pulled itself into a vacuum???

the pump is priming. i didnt put the vacum/ overflow hose on but the nipple isnt obstructed at all could that be the problem does it really need that hose hooked up

lol hell no... mine was gone long ago....you had to have bumped a wire somewhere.... go double check yourself, its gotta be something simple

nah, its either cracked or got knocked off..

most likely a bad connection cuz all the vacuum hoses are under the airbox..

just make sure all the wires are pushed in.. good

oh ok yea everything under the airbox should be fine bc i didnt mess with that but who knows ill try un plugging it and plugging it back up. if that doesnt work im going to drain the gas. whats up the the fuel pump will i have to buy a new one if i find a bunch of shit in the gas?

now that ive slept on it i think its electrical though bc the bike acts like its trying to start with the tip sensor knocked over. you know what im saying like the rpms dont light up at all when its trying. not like its half way starting and just wont get enough clean gas.

check all the wiring and make sure all that wires are pushed into the boots.. if you think its the tip sensor gut that bitch
