Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

I have a question.. im new to the stunt riding era.. I purchased me a 07' Yamaha R1 last year. im read over the beginner wheelie thread, which is very helpful i might add. Here is my thing.. I noticed alot of stunters use a handbrake connected to their rear brake pedal. i was wondering where i can find one and if it is necessary right at first. Thanks

Jason

Read the entire thing.... now I'm just waiting for the sky to clear up. So I can let my balls hang and attempt to bring my cbr up on one wheel. Thanks bro.... I'll post asap with the results.

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

i'm learning to wheelie my fireblade 900rr of '99 i kan get it up in first gear by rolling on the throttle or clutching but when i try to clutch in second gear it doesn't come up. sometimes it comes up a few inches and then drops again. i clutch it on ca. 7-8000 rpm speed: 30-40 mph. can somebody tell me what i'm doing wrong or give me advice on how i should do it.

i'm wondering if its the bike becuase it's relatively heavy 400 lbs

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

I get it up in first gear with my 07 GSXR-600 and I can keep it up BUT I find myself "chasing" it and I run out of gear. I guess practice will help me find that sweet spot so I won't be chasing it??

obv u cant keep it up just fine cuz yr chasin it means u r not at bp. I learned back wen u pop it up when yr forks r straight with the road usually means yr at bp and u can also feel it like yr floating.

A hb main purpose i think... Is when u cant cover yr rear foot brake like ie Seat Standers, Flamingos, HighChairs, etc.. U use yr hb. But alot of ppl get so use to it in lot they use it alot alot alot..

ahh great way to put it...when the forks are parallel with the road. I started standing up with the left foot on the rear peg and right foot over the rear brake and I noticed that I dont chase it anymore as much. I'm getting the hang of keeeping it up and riding it at a steady RPM.
