Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

Great advice, best post ever for wheelies.

I can pop first gear wheelies couple a of feet up and ride them out.

But screw it, I'm gonna learn the bp on my mountain bike can do 25 yard wheelies so far, cheap and almost painless!

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

Anyone know of any good instructional wheelie dvd's out on the market??? Yea, I saw that guy on youtube, but it doesn't show the specifics, or at least not enough for my dumb azz. I understand the concept and it backs up what this forums discusses, but I need more visuals. I found one by Level X, but not sure how good it is.

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

Very Nice write up. I have been doing wheelies for a while now but only do clutch ups in 2nd and 3rd. Never tried clutch in 1st. I have a 954 it is too sensative in first...should i clutch it up at 15mph with stock sprocket or should i upgrade it?

Stock Sprockets. No need for any sprocket setup to clutch up A 954 lol or any bike for that matter. In first rev the tac to about 5-6K then pop the clutch if it come's up to fast and you get scared your just not used to the feeling yet..Keep practicing and you will get use to it. 15mph..The slower you can go the better, The only thing A sprocket kit will do is make the bike more sensitive in first...Well Good luck and wear good gear! -Boss

Re: Complete guide for learning basic wheelies the right way

Great information. A lot to take in, but step by step was greatly written. I can get the wheelies up in first and ride for about 50 yards. I don't want to switch into 2nd seeing the gears just grind. For one thing, I have to lower my tire pressure for sure. Where would I start to higher my RPM rate? I also have a power commander III on my r6...would I need to do any modding of that through my computer?

Just keep practicing.. Do not change gears.. keep it in 1st for a while. go slow.. keep your RPMs down.. Not sure what you mean by keeping the RPM rate high. the power commander wont do anything for you and you dont need to adjust anything. just ride what ya got and it will come to you.. you dont really need to have low air pressure but I suppose it will help.. I never liked it. dont worry about the bike.. you just need practice.

Thanks for the advice. Would dropping the clutch in 1st gear going about 15mph be the best for slow wheelies?

So i can learn the balance point of my bike. Right now it will not stay on the back wheel at all. Just wondering if some one could help, thanks.
