staggard circles

ive just started trying staggard circles to the right,im on a 98zx6r my idles about 2.5 -3k ,rear psi 20,can slow it down and dip it in ,i was getting quite consitent with dipin it in but upgraded to dual caliper the other day so still gettin used to the grabbyness of it,finding that as i turn it just falls away im using throttle a bit but highsides when i do,cant work out what im doin wrong been tryin everythin ,countersteering moving bodyweight ,dunno if im goin to tight, is it best to start wide circles then work in? or just go for smaller ones till i get em cus it does'nt feel like it dips in when i try wide ones ,does'nt feel the same, just feels like im goin slow an turning.dunno if alot of ppl do staggard anymore just need a few tips really cheers.

Re: staggard circles

yeah just read it bk ,kinda explained it wrong,i just meant like i was finding it hard on the stock rear caliper to get it stay up and to kinda turn and now i changed to nissin 4 pot for footbrake its even harder! keep mousetrapin it ,i wana get tight circles just wonderin if ppl go for quite wide ones then work ur way in , will it help?,or is that a waste of time? or just keep triyin at smaller ones ,ive been trin wider ones, keeps goin out and not stayin in the turn, hangin right off the bike to try in pull it round ,the tighter ones seems to fall in just wont stay up falls away then when i use a bit of throttle it highsides .

Re: staggard circles

go left for staggered, way better.. come in on idle, suddenly slow it down and stretch the left leg while pushing the bike in. let GO of the brake!

Re: staggard circles

i learned going to the right and trying it tight and it took me about 4 months

every one else that i teach to go right they always seem to go wide first and then they learn to get tighter and tighter and they all learned waaaaaaaaaay faster than i did ...

being able to catch idle constantly is the key , if you can roll around on idle with out having to touch the throttle much you will have alot easier of a time learning circles ..

by the way i learned on a 98 zx6 and i know mine would lose serious rpm when i hit balance point so if yours does the same you may want to turn your idle up a little more but with that being said i have ridden one that pulls like a train on idle so if thats the case your idle is fine where it is

ill be happy to get em in 4 months . im feelin quite comfortable now tho so hopefully i will ,catchin the idle pretty consitently then turning, been tryin both wide and tight ,goin wides def helped .kinda put my left knee on seat so shifted my weight more central thats helped too abit ,
mine pulls quite well but i think im gona do what you said and raise the idle slightly ,i was on around 5k but was stalling loads someone said its cus it was too high for the speed i was turning ,got one small one the other night didnt get all the way round but gettin the feel for them VERY slowly lol ,i recon i must have done like 3000! my wrists are fucked from stalling all time lol . cheers for the pointers tho ill give em ago.

Re: staggard circles

you will have more control over the bike if your knee isnt in the seat , i would suggest foot in the bar or trunk or even staggered over the knee on the seat

Re: staggard circles

edit: nevermind

just keep practicing! Personally I think tight staggard circles are WAY easier tight then wide. Stuff like SS's I do think you can spin wide and tight easy, but staggard I would think would be hard to go wide

yeah when im goin wide im kinda edging it round using brake and a bit of throttle probly looks more like a hexagon shape than a circle lol, think its probly helpin me with brake /throttle control but it def feels different when i try em tight, leans in more just getting it to stay up is the hard bit .but yeah i just gotta keep at em i suppose, hopefully it will click soon .
