Any tips on learning HB?
Any tips on learning HB?
After my crash last month I've had alot of time to sit here bored.

Anyway, I've got a dual caliper handbrake setup and once healed really want to start using it.
Any tips for learning. I got fb down but have never used a hb. Any tips on what to practice so when I'm in a SS and dip behind BP I'll actually grab the hb in time?
The only thing I've done so far is ride around for a few weeks on the street and whenever I need 2 stop, forcing myself to use the hb instead of the fb to hopefully build up some hb instinct.

before any one starts to use a hand brake they should have idle wheelies on lock using the foot brake and should already be able to do ss with out a handbrake

now thats not saying alot of people do it that way but it's just my opinion
Re: Any tips on learning HB?
the only tip i can give you, besides it just one of those thangs you just learn no matter how many tips you get, is learn how to 2 finger that ****. this means one finger on the clutch and one on the handbrake. back in the day i learned the whole switch finger from clutch to handbrake trick, and i feel that hurt me in the long run. If and when you learn this simply trick, combos, circles, and just about every trick becomes alot easier. just my

Re: Any tips on learning HB?
I learned by doing foot on seat, slowing it down, then let off FB and work the HB, still covering FB.I kinda had to learn this way because my 1st HB was so shitty if you went behind BP it would just loop
Re: Any tips on learning HB?
Like he said^
Just learn to work the hb from whatever stance you are used to. Once you learn how the hb feels then learn SS.

+1!
I fully agree with the opinion that learning the two finger is the best way. Learning the right way first is obviously the best. And if it feels like you're going to fall off, then build the hand strength up while you're out. Either get one of those little hand excercise machines, or beat off a lot LOL
I felt like I was going to lose grip two fingering at first, but I just had faith in myself and stuck it out. you'd be suprised how strong you're last two piggies are!
Re: Any tips on learning HB?
the way i learned was riding with my foot on the brake and when i got to a point where i was cruisin smooth enough i stopped using the foot brake and switched to the hand brake and kept my foot there incase
Re: Any tips on learning HB?
i learned everything with no brake at all 50mph on the streets...threw hb on when down the street first wheelie slowed from 50 to 30mph...learn bp with no brake then ride the streets and it should take u 4 wheelies top to master it..
Re: Any tips on learning HB?
The streets will still be there when I get fully healed up! :YEAH
