Need Help Wheelies

Aight here goes, on my 05 f4i I been able to clutch it up in second no problem...until today that is, I changed my rear tire out for a 190/60/17 from a 180/55/17, now I gotta gas the hell outta it to get it clutched up, could it be I got too much tire or maybe too soft of a compound, I got like 20 psi in it, but it still feels hard as fuk what gives...

well if your old tire was very worn and your chain also got adjusted when the tire was changed then you put on a bigger tire it will clutch up differently because the wheel base of the bike is going to be longer then it was with the old smaller tire and the wheel it self will be back further from adjusting the chain

actually I never adjusted the chain when I put it back together and check the tension it was just where it should have been bikes only got like 5K and sum change on it, although I did notice that my throttle has sum slack in it I may need to have that chkd and adjusted...... dunno tho

Re: Need Help Wheelies

<not a expert..... but with a larger tire wouldn't it cause you to have to raise your "typical " rev..... ie if you rev to 8 or w.e and a larger tire you might have to go up to like 9 ..... some one please correct me if i'm wrong... but it sounds logical to me..... when you say, "gas the hell out of it" are you like bouncing the rev lim? or just raising a lil on the revs?

Hey Edubon, you've got a larger tyre on the back there now with more mass and therefore more inertia to spin it up. This is the main reason you're needing more power and rpms to clutch up a wheelie. As the other guys said also, as the circumference of the tyre has increased by getting a newie, this also means slightly taller gearing and a harder wheelie. Hope this helps
