kleen air on my 636-good idea!

OK so I figured I'd try the mod on my 636 after filling my airbox with oil while practicing stall jumping to the bike.

Man what a noticeable difference!
I did the mod where you run a hose straight from the crank case to the kleen air valve T. I also took the spring out of the Kleen diaphram assembly just in case it resricted anything. That way I knew it wouldn't build Case presure.

I had my idle up before this mod & now i had to cut it down to about half because the idle was so strong now.

The bike is much deeper and quieter sounding too.

I don't loose power on long wheelies anymore either

After riding it today compared to before the mod it seems like my rpms had to be up before to get the same power i get now.

Anyway that's my story and i'm sticking with it

ANybody else tried it and like it?

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!

what did you just tee it off the two things coming off the top off the motor and take the kleen air thing right out. I'm going to do this this weekend. So, where does the oil go now? Into the top of the motor. Is that going to be bad. i read about this on the kawi forum but they don't do wheelies. I was wondering if this would hurt the motor.. Thanks for the info...

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!

Yeah i just ran a 1/2" hose from my case to the "T" on the valve cover. I left the diaphram assembly on but took the spring out of it since there was no vaccum line hooked to it anymore.(capped) Now if I do have some oil come from the case it just goes into the exhaust port/header throught the factory kleen air assembly(diaphram) instead of my airbox. It also helps to keep hot oily air out of the airbox wich = more power & torque.

I'm gonna try it more tommorow with stalls and see if it blows any smoke out of the exhaust. If it does I may put a catch bottle inline close to the case so if oil does come out at 12 it will stay in there till i put it back down and then it will flow back down into the case. This way it will still let air pressure out but not oil.

So far so good tho with just the simple setup and my oil level just to the top mark on the spy glass.

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!

The guy I bought this bike from (ezvx) locked the first motor up because of filling the airbox with oil and then it broke a rod.

I think it's worth the time and $5 that it takes to do it.

Plus there is a gain in performance in my opinion.

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!

i dont know what will happen if you use the factor T. the real way to do it is change the T and run the hose to the crank case. also dont run more then top of site glass on the oil level and you wont smoke at all. my bike has had this done for 1year and never smoked while other do. only diffrence was they were running more then top of glass when bike level. 2cent but do what you want

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!

gotta 06' w/10,000 stunt miles... no smoke, and haven't had anyproblems w/oil in the air box. And so far it doesn't smoke, even after wheeling close to idle for a long time. No bar tricks, just the occasional scrape. I don't over fill the oil. I still plan on doing the kleen air mod.

Fixin to go ride now and test it out more but so far i'm happy with it

Re: kleen air on my 636-good idea!

Ok i rode more today and here's what i got...

Besides what i already said about the power, it seems to be smoother too.

I put it back on the tail for a about 45 seconds and then put it down and rode off. it smoked for little bit till it burn out of the exhaust but no big deal. ALOT better than goin in my airbox.

I don't care to do bar tricks (no bar anyway) but for someone that does they would be crazy not to do this mod to save their engine.
