Re: catching idle

i learnd to clutch it up and give it one constant amount of brake pressure, like i just mentaly knew it was enough to stop me from looping and just kept going back further and further till it slowed down... just keep solid pressure on the rear brake and apply alittle more n more throttle.

Re: catching idle

You don't need to catch idle, find the balance first and get it high enough to run against the brake. Stop pumping the throttle. just clutch it, keep throttle as constant as possible and use the brake.

Re: catching idle

It took me forever to learn idle. Then someone watched me do it one day and saw what I was doing wrong. I was clutching it up and hitting the brake too early.

To catch idle, have your foot on the brake pedal. Dont apply pressure just make sure your foot it touching the pedal. Then roll about 1-2 mph and pull in the clutch. When you are slightly moving, dab the brake to make the bike stop. As soon as you do that, blip the gas and clutch it up. This will make you come up quick and high without gaining alot of speed. Clutch it up and dont hit the brake til you feel the idle pull you back. Keep practicing that and getting used to the idle pulling you. You are allowed to hit the brake when u feel the idle kick in. If you dont feel the idle blip the gas a bit and DONT touch the brake til you feel the idle. Hope this helps. Once I did this I was riding idle in 2 minutes.

Re: catching idle

Oh, and be smooth with the brake and gas. Hit the brake 1/2 as hard as you think you should. And dont KEEP pressure on the brake, this will make you bog the bike down and stall.

Re: catching idle

Heres how I get it up to idle, I turn the rpms up to like 3g ,with the bike in first I sit there at complete stop with my foot holding the brake and clutch pulled in. Then just slip out the clutch and blip the throttle ,I always keep an eye on my front forks ,when there level im at B.p and the idle is carrying me along ,I gently press the rear brake constantly , but most of the time I dont need it. When the front wheel starts to fall I just blip the throttle. I use a 73 tooth ,and a little under 10 pds.. good luck hope this helps...

that's damn good advice..... so i should just let the engine brake bring me back onto the idle???

as of right now, everytime i try idle, i'm either to low, or i blip it to much and go so far back that i just slow down and bogg out

Re: catching idle

nikoli, u def seem like u know what ur doing and talking about. im on an 06R6, my 3rd bike, with just a racefit slip on. (no money for anything else right now) obviously stock geared still and my question is; is it possible to bring it up like that from a stand still and then slow it down? im kinda a beginner when it comes to stuntin, and hesitant to do it with a new bike, but also curious at the same time. im not lookin to do crazy circles or anything like that, just a slow, high parkin lot wheelie that my friends can't do lol. i also know when i'm not ready to try a new trick, so don't worry about me doin somethin im not ready for yet. but my question is, is it possible on my bike, and how do i start to learn?

You should try to get to it right off of the clutch up. If you speed up and blip the throttle you have to blip it past balance point and gently touch the brake to slow it down. Easier to try to get it right off clutch up and blip one time to get there.
