Yea, you need a seperate 10/22 to take the receiver from. So thats at least another $120. A plus is you get a match grade barrel (supposedly). And then you're gunna need to get it installed and the headspace checked... I don't know how to check that so I'd have a smith do it. Thats probably another $100.
So all together, it's close to $500 for a .22. You can get a NICE real deal AK47 for the price, or an average Sar1 + $150 in ammo/accesories for that price. Cool idea, not worth the money though IMO.
Personally I like the mg42 dressup kit the most... It's a bit cheaper too.

For $500 you can buy an AK
For $500 you can buy about 3 cases of 7.62X39 to shoot out of your AK.
I have 3 AK's and I can't wait to buy a 10/22!

Here is the stock for my 10/22. Company out of Canada makes some wicked ****. Just need to get an aftermarket barrel for this bitch although the stock one fits. Basically its just a stock that accepts all ar-15 parts to your ruger. I threw on the tapco buttstock, houge grip and yhm dimond rails.

Re: Kinker Plinker
Theres an ad in shotgun news for a .22 cal AK for $300 complete ready to go. Looks kinda cool but personally as cool as the 10/22 is its just really hard to beat a gsg-9. I ****** love mine.
The only complaint I have w the GSG's r that after about 1k rounds the firing pin gets weak an it starts to miss fire, but w a file and about 20min of fukn w it can b remedied. There are a lot of bad *** mods out there for em too. Cant get much more tacticool than a .22cal MP-5
