Re: Rmk 800 Help!!

f electric start!!!! was it the first time u started it after being stored for the summer bad gas?
once started will it stay running?

check the idle screw if i thought it was that i would turn it in some of the way it will idle higher then u can adjust as needed

have u taken the carbs apart and cleaned them out?

what elevation is it jetted for ?

How many miles on it may check compression !

Just a few ideas

Cool Re: Rmk 800 Help!!

I concur with a lot of what SS has said. Also, while the carbs are apart, check the pilot jets, and also check the free play on the choke cables. Mine starts second pluck, every time, except when it's when it's been sittin' for a couple of days, then it's 3 or 4, never more. Put choke to full, once it starts, slip it to straight out, and then, about 10 to 15 seconds later, all the way off, and let it idle to operating temperature. If it looks like it's going to die, just tug the choke a little, and let it off. The average temperature here at this time of the year is around -30 celcius. Later in the winter, it'll be steady at -40 to -50 celcius. I'm a technician with a Yamaha/Polaris dealership, and the problems you've described would point me in the direction of a fuel problem, as SS has pointed out.

Peace!!

Re: Rmk 800 Help!!

How about what position the clip is on the needle would that effect it enough to make it start real hard ?

Also one year on my old 600 i used the stabil in the gas and the mixture between that and the ethenol in the gas ate the hoses completely disintegrated them and one of the tiny chunks got caught up in the carb totally had to take everything apart to get it to run right again
