How SLOW can you go ?

I found a new "zone" in the past few days (I think partly due to the fact i've been practicing a bunch this past month for the show we did last night)
Anyways .... It's going Real slow....really frikkin slow .... SO how slow can all you guys go ? I'm gonna do some testing today .....and I'm challenging (In a friendly fun way) all of you to go out and Try this ....and See what your results are ..... if you make a wild claim....you better have vid . to back it up.
I'm going to make a marked area 10 feet long.... then I'm going to see how long i can keep it up while wheelying through that area.... I'm going to set up my video camera on a tripod ...pointing at that 10 foot pass.(from the side)....and Then I'll make like 10 attempts or so .....videotaping all of them..... then I'll go back and watch them....and with a stopwatch ....I'll Time how long I'm in the box ....on the rear wheels ....no setting it down on the rear bar. I think I can do like 10 to 20 seconds....
Anyone else out there interested in trying this , and comparing our times and stuff ? I think it will help anyones Skills to improve just attempting to concentrate on something like this.....It's kinda like a Slow Race.... It will "push" us to want to go slower and slower ....and in the end we'll have improved our rear brake and clutch skills, and feel of true BP.
I'll let you know my results tomorrow.. later

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

OK ....I layed down a decent time today.... of 7.02 seconds ...(or somewhere therabouts...within 1 tenth)
We painted up a 10 foot by 10 foot square and called it "THE SLOW BOX" we shot a bunch of video going through it and timed it later when watching it on the TV ...we could time passes more than once to be accurate. My friend did 2 seconds...he thinks the limit will be 12 or 14 seconds.... BUT... I think I can hit 10 seconds within a week....and I think an expert like some of these seasoned vets can do 15 seconds or more !!! It was fun .... Oh also ....I didnt feel "the zone" like I did yesterday....so I think i can do a better pass in the next couple of days (the next few hundred tries ) hehe
My goal is 10 seconds cause that would be 1 foot per second....Im sure Average MPH could be figured out easily from there.....i'll do that later when I reach my goal...

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

maybe ....but , What I've found is.... what you think is 10 seconds(for me anyways) is actually only like 6 when you time it. And 10 feet is a pretty small area. Anyways 10 seconds would be 1 foot per second average....
Set the bar for us ..... It rained today other wise i think i can do 10 seconds within the next hour of trying. I'll let ya'll know

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

do you start outside of the box, and begin timing it when you cross the line, or do you start inside the box?

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

As much as I dislike the guy... I think Chad has most people beat. Even Phear. I'm pretty sure he can stall out in a wheelie... shut off the machine... wait awhile, have some lunch, take a nap, restart the quad and continue in a wheelie. But like I said... I don't like the guy, so he really sucks.

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

Start outside the box start timing when you cross the line.....and stop it when you have crossed the 2nd line..... as easy as that....
I have Video of my 7 seconds......but there's no use in posting it till it's respectable in my opinion. I'll be posting a 10 second run soon (within days) I'd love to see someone stall it and kill the engine and be able to restart it and pull back out.
My longest stall is probably only around 3 or 4 seconds... I could see someone holding a stall for 5 or 8 seconds....but longer than that , and I'd have to see it , to believe it.

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

It's so easy to stall a quad and balance it... It is fun as hell to see how long you can do it though! Kinda like balancing a manual on a skateboard.

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

Basically.....when we start putting up our times... (ie. 10 seconds or 12 seconds or 17 seconds) to travel through the box........ We will be able to convert that time ......to an Average MPH.....

The other reason I'm trying to promote this ....is it's Great Practice.....and a great way to measure improvement........ and could produce a Really cool Vid Clip for someone... (Whoever hits that 15 second stall or something insane like that. Have Fun....I'm gonna take another shot today

Re: How SLOW can you go ?

I agree with everybody...hahah.

I agree that Chad is probably better than me.

I agree that it's very easy.

But then again I agree that 30 seconds is longer than you'd think.

I agree that its fun....because really, there is no "best" time. No matter how slow you go, it can be improved upon...regardless of how easy it is.

One other question....what kind of surface (paved, dirt, grass, etc...) are we talking about doing it on? Our choice?
