trx450 break in

My friend just picked up a new TRX450. Since it's such a high performance motor and is tuned so lean from factory, would you recomend putting a tiny bit of Amsoil in the first 2-3 tanks of gas?

I dont know about break in's on 4 strokes but if you did it the way that the guy in that link described with a 2 stroke, youll blow your top end in about 2 minutes.

Re: trx450 break in

I used the "ride it like you stole it" method on one of my YFZ's and it runs awesome. Plus, it's actually faster than the other YFZ and I've had no problems with it what so ever. The other YFZ was broken in using the manufacturer's recommendation and it has been nothing but a high-maintenance pain in the a$$. Anyway, that's just my personal experience with breaking in a 4-stroke, however, I do agree that it wouldn't be a good idea to try that with a 2-stroke.

I believe this to be good advice for 4 strokes. I've had the same experiance breaking in motors on liter bikes.Made more horsepower and more dependable motor to beat.It is good to have them broke in at high revs. at least in racing aplications. Don't know about stuntin? Bounce it off the rev limiter!! :YEAH
