Getting a tattoo

Hey all, first off let me say that this is my first tattoo so i'm pretty excited. Decided on a piece that means something to me (ask if you want to know) and I overall love it. I wanted some opinions from those who do have tattoo's; what are the best methods to keeping them clean so nothing happens to the ink? The guy i talked to just said to keep it dry, don't let shirts stick to it etc. but mainly don't let moisture build up on it.

Any other helpful tips? anything would be great.

I'm adding a little something of my own to it, inside the circle of the palm instead of the star and face, I'll be getting a yin&yang in it.

Here's the piece:

scheduled for next thursday, i'll post up some pictures after I get it done

Re: Getting a tattoo

My tattoo artist told me this and i've done it and my tats turned out pretty good.

Use preparation H on your fresh tat for the first few days to heal it.
Then just follow up with an unscented lotion (gold bond works well).
Keep it out of the sun, or atleast use some sunscreen if its gonna be exposed.
Cover that shit while you're riding.

Good luck man,
be ready to get hooked on tats.

They will give you directions of what not to do, just follow those....

Like stated just dont scratch it, pat dry with a towel dont rub it when ya hop out the shower...

Use a unscented lotion, ive used lubriderm on all my tats and they have came out great.. so wats the story behind the tat idea?

Yea when i went in to schedule I asked what I would need to do and he said those things as well, just wondering if anybody has found different methods of taking care of them.

Story behind it isn't anything too personal, but I really like it and the meaning i get from it is even through chaos there can be peace (the tribal designs inside the peace sign) and generally the overall symbol of peace.

the only thing I don't like are the circles... they're like rhinestones.

Re: Getting a tattoo

i just think the circles will take forever, plus with them being that small the artist isn't gonna be consistent enough to make 100 circles look good together i don't think

Re: Getting a tattoo

Yea I haven't really thought about the circles and if the artist will be able to make them consistent. When i talked to him he said they'd be able to get it done in a 4 hour sitting, so i'm hoping on that.

I'll probably end up going in a little early and going over it, seeing what he can do and what the best option would be.

Re: Getting a tattoo

yeah
i mean do what you like.......i just think it would be tough on the artist, and id hate to see a sweet tat get ruined cause the circles vary in size.......its super detailed...

Re: Getting a tattoo

Thats a good point. I would consider taking them out. Photoshop a pic and cut them out to see how it would look.

Fresh Ink!

Got it today, i talked to the tattooist and he said he had no problem doing the circles, and they actually came out pretty well. If you look really up close you can see tiny imperfections but i'm overall happy with the piece, i love it.

Appointment was at 1, talked about it and he got prep'd so we started at 2. Finished at 6.

Outline:

Finished:

No, got it done by Frank Sr. at Captain Morgan's. Heard mixed reviews of both captain's and altered but overall i'm happy with the outcome.
